Spammer, asking if I want to sell my property on xyz street.
This is a collection agency that is trying to collect on old debt more than 10 years old. They bought old debt from creditors and threaten to take you to court if you don't pay or arrange settlement. They even disclose your credit history with you and state based on the report you will lose in court and it is in your best interest to settle. The phone call ended in she is recommending the client take legal action.
They told me that they were calling from SRG. I said what is SRG. She said it was a client based organization. She wanted me to answer her questions but she didn't want to answer mine. Very Rude to call my cell phone and give me a hard time. I guess that's what they make the hang up button for.
They tried to get me to pay a $400 debt that was written off at a bankruptcy. They threaten to take legal action to force my hand. Do not fall for it. With the bankruptcy it is meaningless. They are trying to scare you and take your money.
I received a call from this number & they tried to collect on a 10 year old debt. I nicely let the lady know that anything passed 7 years old exceeds the Statue of Limitations. She acknowledged I was right & "asked me to do the right thing and pay off the debt. I have no idea where & how they got my info.....but, I am not about to give up any money without receiving paper work & just getting a call.
SRG called me on my cell phone regarding a 10 yr old debt. I never had service with the company they claimed I owed. I asked for specific info. On the case and was not provided any at all yet she still wanted me to pay a 2000 dollar bill. She claimed she would deduct 1000 off the debt if I paid now. I told her to fax me info and I would pay if I had incurred debt. She got very hostile and I just hung up on her. Haven't heard back from them yet. Definitely a shady maybe even illegitimate company.
Real cute .. a "client based organization" could describe a thousand types of business. I'll take a stab the acronym is for Strategic Recovery Group in Irving, TX, "part of Vantium Capital, Inc", its website boasts. They are thugs known for illegal tactics, the kind the FDCPA was written for.
No state has a seven year SoL on any major debt category, but you were right to consider account age and say nothing which could make you liable. Ten years exceeds SoL in much of the U.S. It's too late to "do the right thing" with a debt so old and in the hands of a debt buyer. The original creditor isn't seeing that money; it would go straight to some greaseball exec's next SUV purchase.
