Scam artists use stupid SEO's (Search Engine Optimizers, a kind of dishonest computer program) to try and trick real companies like Google, Bing, Yahoo, so that the bullshot criminal "websites" pop up first among the Results if your innocent and trusting search. In the olden days, snake oil salesmen had to travel from town to town looking for easy marks...NOW gullible or naive victims come to them online for free with no effort! Don't you be one.

Here's a better idea: call the FBI and let them know if anyone is masquerading as an Amber Alert.

This may be legit, but the message asks you to call a Phoenix AZ number, when the area where the cat was lot is in Southern California?

Sounds like a scam of some sort down the line, no name on caller ID Always makes me suspicious. I've had a hundred phony calls over the past few years, nothing like this. I never even heard of their web site and I'm not going to go into either.

Yes, according to the voicemail there's an option to opt out, but if my call blocker has already sent the call to voicemail, I don't get the chance to do that. It's the second call I've gotten from them in three days. I know the first was legitimate; the owner had already posted a notice on NextDoor. I'm a pet owner and sympathize, but I'm bending over backwards trying to stop annoying phone calls and don't appreciate a system like this. Tonight's call came in at 8:30 pm. That's too late!! At least they should stick to regular business hours.

It's a legitimate number from lostmydoggie.com. Since I couldn't "press 2" in response to their voicemail, I went to their website and left a message via their Contact form, asking to be added to their do not call list. Got an email from them about 10 minutes later saying they'd added me to the list.
