This is FRAUD. A legitimate company would not ask for your SS# or your DOB. They would not need that info to simply ask you about recent purchases.
Do not call this number do not give any personal info. This is a scam. Call your financial institution
This would appear to be legitimate. I received a phone call from this number regarding suspicious activity on my account. They requested name, case number, and the last four digits of my SSN. They then asked me regarding several suspicious charges. Examining them on the bank's website and listening to the descriptions, I confirmed they were suspicious, and a freeze was placed on my card.After that, I double-checked the lost/stolen hotline for my credit union, and noticed it was different than the number on my voicemail. Suspicious, I called this number listed on the union's website and explained the situation. The employee guided me through similar steps, then confirmed that yes, my card had been frozen today for fraudulent charges, as I had been told.As with all things banking, use your own best judgement and always play it safe. It would simply appear that this is a company employed to monitor fraud for certain banks or credit unions, though.
888-241-2240,message was left on my answering machine giving a case number and the above phone number when I called that number they were saying they had an offer and they wanted to knowwhat age group I was in and it had to do with my Visa credit card I called my credit card people and they said that they were per say "the bad guys".another words it was a fraud account call
This number (888) 241-2440 was legit. This is a federal credit union fraud monitoring service. I had made a bunch of small separate debit card charges to multiple vendors on a large chinese ecommerce site (Aliexpress - the chinese equivalent of ebay) and my bank called within the hour to make sure it was not fraud. Th only thing they asked was my name and the last 4 digits of my social social. They then asked to verify a specific charge down to the penny that I made to my account within the past hour which was correctly identified.
i keep getting calls from 1-888-241-5297 no one ever answers they just hang up continually 3 to 5 times a day 7 days a week
this came in from fraud dept associated with our account - we figured 888 # was spam so ignored it at first then later we checked voice mail they said give them a call we did but still didn't believe them so we called our bank after hours they verified the number was correct and it was a fraud monitoring service associated with our account ,our bank transferred us directly to fraud monitor service and when questioned by them we answered we had not shopped where they inquired and good for them they spotted it and the card was deactivated, thank you fraud service
