The caller is Falcon Fraud Manager. If you have this number call then it is more than likely there is suspicious activity with a credit union credit/debit card issued to someone at the number they are trying to contact. If Falcon Fraud Manager is unable to get a hold of the card holder then there is a block issued against the card from further activity until they verify the transactions with the card holder
Call from agent on behalf of credit union for unusual activity on someone else's credit card. I called them back to let them know that they mis-dialed and they said that if we have your telephone number and you bank there it must be you. Let us have the last four numbers on your card so we can look the case up.
Caller from redwood credit union for roomate. Kinda odd he did not want any info -just have her call back and they can pull it up--will see and post back
Follow up on above post-- it is a fraud investigator at work as when she went to deposit her paycheck the atm would not accept it and told her to call the bank--seems that she bought 14.95 worth of gas(motorcycle) at a station (arco) that she had never used before. I mean I am all for fraud protection but for that small amount I mean cmon!So if you do receive this call it is real (however stupid it may be) call them back asap or they will put a hold on your account
They called my phone number and said "this is a call for:________ "(they gave my husband's name) They said "this is ________"(they gave my bank's name) they went on to say "this is regarding recent transactions made against your account via ATM please contact us at 888 241 2440" I called my bank using a number I KNOW to be my banks number. Guess what... it wasnt my bank that left that message.
Got a call from this number on my cell phone this morning re: "transactions made against my account via debit card". A bit hesitant to call back because of my leeriness of possible identity theft, but I did call the number. It is to Falcon Fraud Services and they said they work with credit unions to help fight fraud and told me to look on the back of my debit card to see the Co-op network emblem. I did and sure enough it was there. Without giving out any of my personal information the gentleman I spoke with told me the 3 suspicious charges they were calling about. Two were not suspicious because they are monthly debits from my account and have been for a few years and the 3rd was somewhat suspicious as it was a charge from a company I had business dealings with in the past regarding a software package I bought & received 1 year free service. Apparently that "free" year has ended and they automatically billed me for renewal w/out my authorization. So I am getting ready to contact this company and find out what's going on. Needless to say Falcon Fraud was going to put a block on mine & my husbands debit cards and we'd have to contact our credit union to have them reactivated. I was given the number to the company of the suspicious charge & will be contacting them immediately re: the debit. I also contacted my credit union to verify if, in fact, they do use Falcon Fraud Serives and was informed yes they do and have done so for about 8 months now to cut down on fraudulent charges to their customer's atm/debit cards. So, if you get a call from this number (company) I would strongly advise you to contact them ASAP to get things squared up or they will block your atm/debit card.
I received a call on my cell phone from this number so I didnt answer thinking it was a telemarketer or something. As soon as the call ended, my work line rang and they asked for me and said that someone in Texas was using my credit union debit card and asked if i was in Texas, I said no (i'm in california) so she asked me to check if my card is with me and gave me the last 4 digits of my card to verify (which was the correct #) so she said she's going to notify my credit union and for me to stop using my card. I'm waiting for my credit union to open so i can call and verify with them.
I was at a nail salon and they had trouble using my debit card the first time, so they asked for it again, and it went through the 2nd time. About 15 minutes after leaving the salon, I received a call from 888-241-2440, on behalf of my credit union, inquiring about a possible fraudulent charge on my debit card. they identified themselves as a fraud company that works for the co-op credit union network. the charge they mentioned was at the nail salon i had just visited - apparently they entered an extra zero the first time, which is why it didn't go through. the fraud company knew the exact charges for the first and second attempts. this is a legit fraud monitoring agency.
This is a legit fraud company. I went to BP gas station and used my Visa. The gas ( regular unleaded ) didnt pump so i cancelled the transaction. I tried my card again and chose premium gas and it worked. After that, we went to IHOP and my card was declined! As soon as i got home ( 1hr later ) theres a message on my phone stating to call 1-888-241-2440. They told me that they put a blocked on my visa for suspicious gas purchased. BP gas company processed my card twice. I explained what happen and they were able to removed the block on my card. The only question they asked me was my date of birth. Jacksonville Florida is one of the highest gas station fraud!! Be careful.
