This number called me but I couldn't answer in time so I called back & it said they were Amazon. At that time I knew it was just one of many many scam calls I get because I never use Amazon.
I picked up the phone primarily because I continually shop with Amazon. The initial message was from the security dept, citing someone in Malaysia had charged $700 to my account. While logging into my account, I remained on the line to ascertain whether or not this was fraud. The next voice I heard was a man with a heavy Indian accent at the same time my account showed no activity. The caller stated he needed my account number to verify the transaction. I gave him an expletive instead!
I ordered something and cannot find the order. I am at my job and want to talk to someone. It was for a patient if mine
This number actually belongs to Amazon. If you are signed up for Two-step Verification with them, when you sign on to Amazon, they will text your or call you from this number to give you a security code to type in so you can get into your account. Not a scam.
I just got a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft and wanting to do updates to my computer. I told him if I needed to do updates I could do them myself and I was not going to take down the firewall. There was no way I could be certain he was who he said he was and he claimed to have my address, to which I said "so what." All you have to do is type someone's name into google and you can get their address. He said "I know you think that's possible, but..." and that's when I hung up on him (unintentionally). I asked someone I trust if Microsoft ever calls someone on their cell phone to request access to their computer and he said no. He is an IT manager at a major university so he knows what he talking about you.
This number called me and the man was claiming he was from "Empire Technology" or some type of company and he said that the firewall protection on my computer was not working properly and asked if I could go on my computer so he could see the problem. I said no and hung up. Definitely a scam.
