I sold an item on Ebay and the check that was sent had this name and number on the envelope: Nansaua Escalera (864) 947-9456
I also received a UPS express package with a check from Nansaua Escalera with the same phone number... took the check to the bank to cash it, and it appeared to be fraudulent.
I received a check from the same name & number, but it was suppose to be for taking care of someone's mother? What did your bank do?
Email scam - but this number is part of the UPS Senders Address: Senior Collins (who will no doubt be somebody else by now!) wanted to buy an expensive art piece with add-on funds for shipper to move other items at the same the same time. Check arrives by UPS Next Day Air (impressive!) from Nansaua Escalera in Tampa FL with telephone number 894-947-9456, but for the amount of the check is three times the value of the art - Email asks me to pass on 'the overs' to the shipper (yet to be declared) for an 'add-on classic car' he was buying and to be shipped at the same time. Alarm bells. Took check to bank to have them look it over - told them the tale - they'd heard it before! - SCAM. You send the overs, their check doesn't clear, you're out the difference. Police report filed.
Same thing happened to me. i didnt catch it on time. Im out $1800. going to the police tomorrow.
I did not receive a call. I just received a cashier's check for the amount of 1,975.00. They wanted to purchase my china cabinet ($1500.00) and for me to cash check and give the remainder of the money to the carrier that was going to pick it up. I immediately contacted the police. They have advised me not to reply or DEPOSIT or CASH CHECK.
For the peepers who want to know how this scam works:(1) They send you a check for a higher amount then the selling price(2) In 2-3 days the check appears to clear(3) You are asked to use a cash wire transfer service to send money to a 'shipper'(4) In 4-6 weeks the check bounces. Usually the check is good, but the transit number at bottom are fake(5) The scammer & the shipper are the same person, who just got your cash & you got the shaft. This scam is very well known & an oldie. Dates back to the days when Nigerian 419 scams were done with snail mail.
Said it was sent from Nansaua Escalera from (849)947-9456. Some long bull crap story about not being able to take care of his or her home an needed help! Craigslist b.s at its finest. Good thing my bf caught me before i tried to cash it an find out!
Same experience. "must hear from you today" Truck to pick up your car will be here soon". We took the check to the bank manager. he called First Tech and they said it was a fake check and check number and that they are having a lot of these. We caught it in time. After I messaged to him that we caught his fraud, he responded "what in the hell are you talking about?' scumbag of worst kind.
