I get 2-5 calls a day from Kohl's. It isn't my store - I'd never shop there - but did lose my ID for awhile. Found it downtown a day later. I've told these people but they keep calling. I've been told "It isn't your fault, we won't contact you again" but there are 2-3 calls from Kohl's the next day. Every day!
I dont know this number and they call 8-10 times a day. Never leave a message. Would like to have my number removed for their call list.
We started getting these calls a few days ago and I finally called the number they gave back as I read the comments here. We do not and never did have a Kohls card but the CSR said my wife did and $20-odd was overdue on her account. My wife talked to her and then the CSR said it didn't sound like it was she who opened the account. But the calls keep coming so we reported it to our county consumer protection bureau which will investigate. And then a couple days later my wife actually got a bill from Kohl's- so now we have an account number. (It is possible she got a previous bill but as she never had anything to do with Kohl's she just threw it out unopened thinking it was advertising.)We also sent a letter to Kohl's CFO Wes McDonald at corporate in Wisconsin who handles credit, telling him about it. Too soon to hear back from him but it will be interesting if and what he replies. My wife's only ID is a nondriver state ID and a transit handicapped reduced fare ID, neither of which have a Social Security number on them, so if she lost her ID that couldn't be the source of a credit card being opened. My only guess is the Chinese hacking of the OPM employee files last year as both of us have worked for the federal government. We're going to watch our credit reports closely.Just now a lady from Kohls corporate called and asked my wife to call their fraud department, so maybe Kohls does care to clear this up in our case.
No. They are NOT allowed to call repeatedly even if no one answers and even if they leave no messages. Eight to ten calls in one day REGARDLESS of whether they reach anyone or don't leave messages is HARRASSMENT. Read the federal collection laws. Repeated calls are not allowed by federal law. Unfortunately many large companies just don't care and do it anyway.
NOT repeatedly! Calling anyone's phone and causing it to ring repeatedly for ANY reason is HARRASSMENT.
