This man goes by Danny Morgan, Danny Mulligan and other similar fake names. He called my 92 year old mother who had just gotten home from the hospital with heart problems and told her he was a public defender, that my son (her grandson) had been in an accident and was in jail and that his wife was in the hospital. He told her my son was being threatened and his life was in danger. Told her to go to the bank and withdraw $5,000 in cash. Put it in a manila envelope and to call him back and he would give her an address to mail the cash. He told her not to tell anyone; that it must be a secret or my son would be harmed. This motherf**ker needs to be put down. My mother got up from her sick bed, asked her helper to take her to the bank and withdrew the money. Had I not interfered and insisted she tell me what was going on, she would have mailed the money. This is not the first time this as**ole has done this. My other son is LAPD and is following up. Do not fall for this useless jerk. BE AWARE.
He called my husbands grandfather who is 102 years old telling him that his oldest grandson was in jail, by the way my husband is the oldest of 3 grandsons, asked for 9,603.00 telling him he needed him to send western union asap that he was a public defender, he also put some guy on phone saying grandpa please help me. What a terrible person!! Little does he know that grandpa worked with attorneys and the state he couldn't fool him.
Caller identified himself as Danny Morgan, a court-appointed lawyer in Tallahassee, FL. called my mother-n-law who lives in Maryland. He asked for $9600 cash as payment for bail. My son, who lives in Virginia, he said, had been arrested for DUI after leaving a friend's wedding. My son doesn't have any friends in FL let alone, someone marrying, at his age! He had someone pretending to be my son cry and plead to make bail. My mom n law was told she could not tell anyone because it would jeopardize my son's freedom. She was going to get the money but thought better of it. I called the police and turned the matter over to them. It's called the grandparent scam. The lady at the police department in Tallahassee was very aware of the scam. Her grandmother had almost been a victim. The key to success with this scam is that the grandparent doesn't call the parent or anyone else to let them know what's going on. Luckily my mom n law followed her instincts and called me. BEWARE!!!
