I love to mess with these people. When I press 1 and get a dude, I pretend to be an old confused man trying to order a pizza. If it's a woman, I turn it into a phone sex call.

They dont per se, get your number, they are using a newer version of a "war-dialer" back in the '80s when BBSing via your modem using a phone to call another modem, people would use war dialers o find numbers. usually they were more local since long distance cost more back then.. so they would call 543-0001 thru 54-9999 and the computer would log each number called with a bad number, voice, fax, or modem tag, then they would call the modems to try to hack the system.. Now, with VoiP and unlimited calls some groups can get and the more connetions possibe, you will get a computer called 200 or 300 numbers at a time, then when someone falls for it, clicks that they are interested, the number call is routed to one of a number of operators trying to get the information. PLUS if you answer, show interest or even tell them to remove your name from the calling list they tag it as a valid number (with a person who will answer) and put it in a list and sell the list to others who want to scam and dont use wardialers or sell them as "legitimate" contacts to actual businesses.a side note, they also do the same with emails, the send emails to A@a.com thru ZZZZZZZ@zzzzzzz.com millions of them, and when a reply comes back, or it does not give an error such as "address not valid" then it puts it in a list to sell. I have seen places advertise these lists, 10s of thousands of email address that are "valid" for about 10-12 bucks, with larger quantity discounts. discussion i have heard about these were about 1% or less were actaully valid, people who have shown an interest in purchasing stuff from cold calls.

Called my cell. Caller ID: 920-329-5465. Left no message. Blocked the caller.

I hope they all get cancer and DIE! Seriously, WHY would anyone these days answer to an unknown caller? It let's them know the number is valid and they will then call even more. Block 'em and forget 'em...That's it!

I don't even go to the trouble of blocking because they'll still find you by calling from a different number anyway. Just ignore calls you don't recognize.

They call and then when you call back it is said that they are not a working number.
