Caller said I won an Obamavacation after being automatically entered using my info from a recent stay in a seedy Amarillo Motel 6. Caller told me it was part of a govt bail-out for depressed American who'd been hurt by the economy. This struck an empathetic nerve, so I listened to his whole speech. 85 minutes later I had a voucher# for a discount trip to Black Hills, South Dakota and a Mexican mail-order bride...both were welcome as I'm a virgin that's never seen Mt. Rushmore. Thank you Worldwide Travel!! #obama/clinton2016
Really couldn't understand what in the world they were saying. Mobile said it was out of Dallas, Texas, and we have relatives there, so answered it.....not a relative.
Got a call on my cell phone at 9:00 a.m. this morning. Did not pick up as I do not answer numbers I don't recognize. My home phone receives at least 10 to 15 unsolicited phone calls a day, and my cell a few a month. This is all so annoying as I am on the DNC for both phones. I work at home and it's distracting and disruptive to have phones constantly ringing when I am trying to concentrate. I have so many numbers block on my home phone I have no more room!
Called saying I signed up for a contest at a shopping mall chain and won one of two travel prizes. He just gave out generic info assuming I'm married and make over 60k a year and other generic points. Then hung up and said his manager will call back to give me a 15 digit code to take to their local office to get the prize. Once I get the next number and address for business more info will follow.
Received a second call moments afterwards said they are Worldwide Travels. Second call is from Chicago. I googled the company, the company that popped up has no offices in Dallas or Chicago. When i asked how he got my number or information he came up with more generic info saying entries during major shopping seasons, christmas, thanksgiving, etc. The first guy had a thick Indian accent, the second had an English accent. The second number was 773-831-4661. Without a doubt its a scam, I hung up after he started asking for personal address and such.
I've had a similar experience as the rest of the board. I didn't answer and no message was left.
If I don't recognize the # I won't answer. Always check & see if it is a scam. Usually is. Thank god for the WWW.
Got a call from this number. Indian man saying I had "won" a free trip and that this was not a sales call. I then proceeded to ask questions about how he got my information. He said I submitted an application on a day when I was out of the country. Then I asked for more details about the form - I asked what info he had on the form then he went on to say a bunch of things that were not at all accurate. When I told him that it was all not true, he hung up on me.He said he worked for national grand center and that their website is under construction. He wanted me to be transfered to his manager so that he could get my e-mail address, something that I obviously would have put on a free trip application, which I never fill out anyways.
Just received a call from this number. I do not answer numbers I don't recognize. They did not leave a message. If they call again I will block the number.
Indian guy called me on behalf of "Global Vacation Network" to tell me that I won a vacation contest. He claimed that I entered a contest by filling out a form at a local mall. When I told him I didn't enter any contests, he congratulated me. When I asked if he had any evidence or numbers I could call to find out more, he told me I was "wasting his time" and hung up on me.Filed a complaint with the BBB on Global Vacation Network. They've got 147 complaints right now, but are denying that they use telemarketers. ...So either they're lying and ARE using telemarketers or there is some volunteer that is calling everyone to attend GVN enrollment seminars...You tell me which is more likely.
