This actually is for Empire BlueCross and the number they give you to call back 844-208-5174 is to receive an authorizations number for a test you have scheduled. They called me about an upcoming stress test that was approved and with the confirmation number and the same information will be mailed to you as well. Not a Scam, although I was skeptical too
Who knows, Mel.......I got the EMPIRE call today...my one ring blocker hung up for me. Then there is the 844-208-5174 that I guess some have called and that it's a way to get a confirmation number for an upcoming med test. Soooo,,,I have an authorized MRI today......doctor who is prescribing it called for approval the other day and set up appointment...no mention of me needing an authorization number, or that I'd get one in the mail. Remember, Anthem had records breach a couple of years ago (Blue Cross is an Anthem company), so I'm still leaning toward some sort of scam, possible with compromised information?
