Same issue. Indian accent. Said from Windows in Los Angeles. I strung him along for 10 minutes. My favorite was asking him how close he was to to Golden Gate Bridge. He said very close. When he asked to connect my computer because "I was doing it wrong" I told him that there is an English expression of "a snow ball chance in hell". He hung up
It's a scam. I'm a Linux programmer so I'm pretty sure Microsoft isn't calling me. I do have an extensive Microsoft background and I know for a fact their Tech Dept. does not make unsolicited calls. Just a security tip. Never allow someone remote access to your computer unless you've called Microsoft and the Tech has told you how to set up the permissions. If that happens your first question should be "How do I deny your permissions when we're done?". I've been doing this since '89 and I can only think of a handful of times I've had to remotely gain control over someones computer. If someone has the ability to use a mouse and keyboard most things can be done over the phone.
This number has called me twice now - once at 6:55am EST, and another time at 7:50 am. CallerID says "Dracut, MA"
Received two calls in two days from this number, one of them at 5:42 am! I don't answer calls from unknown numbers (of which I get many), and these clowns don't leave messages. Caller ID simply says "Massachussetts." Surely even scammers would know better than to call at bizarre hours, since angry people are even less likely to fall for your scam, but I guess they're not very familiar with the time difference between their foreign call center and North America.
This idiot from this phone number 978-957-4464 called and woke me up at 7:23 a.m. today. Telling me he needed to ask me a few questions about my Microsoft computer. I told him no way in heck and not to call me, put me on the Do Not Call list, that by law he has 72 hours and my private, non published number better never see this number come on my caller ID and I was calling the US Federal Trade Commission and reporting his scam call ! THIS IS SOMEONE "NOT" WORKING WITH OR AFFILIATED WITH MICROSOFT. HE IS USING A SPOOF CARD TO SHOW WHATEVER NUMBER AND WHATEVER STATE HE WANTS CALLER ID TO SHOW. *****PLEASE CALL THE US FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION AT 1-877-382-4357 AND REPORT THIS PERSON SO WE CAN GET THIS STOPPED !!!!! I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH THEM. THE MORE THAT DO IT THE QUICKER HE WILL BE SHUT DOWN BUT ANOTHER WILL APPEAR. FIGHT BACK, CALL EVERY TIME SOME SCAM ARTIST CALLS YOU ! LET'S SHUT THEM DOWN !! **also go to wwwdonotcall.gov to put in your home and cell numbers, this should also stop unwanted callers. Protect yourself !
Two calls this AM 10/10/2014 - one at 6:59 AM and the other at 08:51. Didn't answer and no message left on my machine. The caller ID said name was MASSACHUSETTS. It is terrible that we have people who will try and take advantage of others. I have had someone calling months ago about Microsoft but hungup on them.
I get a call from this 978-957-4464 number DAILY!!! Anywhere from 2-3 times per day... and they don't leave voicemails!!! VERY FRUSTRATING because I know its a dumb scam/ telemarketer..
This foreign person (broken English) called me to say "he's calling from The Windows". There has been problems generated from my computer. When asked what was my computer address...he said are you stupid? That's all I had to hear. I threw a few f-bombs and hung up.
caller had heavy india accent spoke very fast and said my computer has been infected with very serious virus. He said he worked for MicroSoft technical department.... He said he had my computer ID.. My husband told him to f' off...
Have yet to deal w/ these people. Rec'd calls yesterday & the day before, before 8:00 a.m. Comes up on the caller ID. I've rec'd other calls from other numbers which per posts on those sites it's the same thing, "Microsoft is calling." For some reason once I google the # I don't get calls from those #s anymore. This is bothersome as I fear they have some capability of seeing what I look at on-line (as the calls stop) but they are not omniscient as my banking & credit card info. hasn't been stolen.
