UGH! Had an accent, total scam. I asked if he was aware of the Do Not Call list and he said he was but this was a VERY IMPORTANT CALL about my computer because I was "using Windows". I said, "Who isn't?" I yelled at him, he hung up on me. I'm pretty sure I'll hear from him again because I'm so charming and he really just wants to help me, ya know.
01234567890 13/04/12Ministry of Justice authorised them to call me about missold PPI. I have telephone preference. Said they were in UK and called EON or something like that.Thet have called before about something else. Sent off with thick ear eventually as I play them like a fish.
When I answered a voice asked for my elderly mother by name and when I asked who was calling they said "I'm calling about her computer". I told them that she does not have a computer (she really doesn't) and asked to be put on their do not call list. The person said she would but 7 hours later (at 9:15PM) they called again. This has been going on for over a week. We usually don't pick up but I thought (stupidly) that asking to be put on their do not call list might work but no such luck. -Vancouver, Wa
These guys wouldn't stop calling so I finally answered. Woman with Caribbean accent kept saying she was from Microsoft and that my computers, old and new, we're downloading malware and viruses on them. I had a little fun with her until my husband made me hang up. The funny part was, she wouldn't get to the point! She kept repeating the same thing over and over again, no matter what I said. I am sure it was one of those scams that wants to help u rid yourself of computer viruses, but she would never get to the point! Hilariously ineffective idiots. I wish my VoIP would allow me to block numbers.
These people keep phoning and when I ask who they are they just hang up the phone. They are a pest phoning up to 3x a day. The last few weeks they have been using the number 08009540186 so I just quit answering when it when the number shows up on caller id. So they have switched numbers to 023-456-7890, same people
11 September 2013T-Mobile Customer RelationsP.O. Box 37380Albuquerque, NM 87176-7380To T Mobile:On 10 September 2013 from 18:02 until 19:18 I received at least 24 criminal, unwanted, threatening, and harassing telephone calls on my T Mobile phone +++++++++ Over the past 6 months I have received roughly 50 similar calls, but never 24 of them in 80 minutes. The other 50 calls have come at all times of the day and night, including repeatedly waking my family in the middle of the night. I now have to keep my phone turned off at night because of these harassing calls. I repeatedly ask these callers to not call me and tell them that I am on the National “Do not call” list, and did so again on at least 10 of these calls last night. I suspect that they come from spoofed numbers which are giving false numbers to my caller ID. The purpose of these calls is to trick me into giving the personal information by allowing them to access to my computer either for the purpose of them misusing my computer, possibly to steal my financial information to steal from me, or possibly to get access to sensitive information that I may have as a “””””””””””””””””””” worker. I suspect that the reason that they kept calling back over and over this time, was that I may have upset them by keeping them on hold for a long time and giving them the initial impression that I was going to give them access to my computer when I had no intention of actually doing so. While they were unsuccessful in harming me or the “”””””””””””” in this attack, they sound like they call person after person until they are successful. They would not continue to do this unless some of the people that they call do fall for their ruse. Stopping them from continuing to do this will prevent significant theft or significant espionage, possibly both. All of these calls are from males and females with what sounds like Indian accents (last night was always the same male), who tell me that they are calling from Microsoft because there is a problem with my computer and they want to help me fix it. They ask me to go to my computer. I do not know what they will ask next because I never let them get further than that. This time my caller Id said these calls came from 14254069022 (7 calls), 19712179508 (5 calls), 19712179514 (5 calls), 12063971127 (4 calls), 19712179518 (3 calls). On prior occasions, they have called from 10999100119, 109999100119, 10234567890, 15126104761, 12064560661, 0000000000, 1284678, 284678 and others.I previously filed a complaint to the Honolulu police (cannot recall complaint number), and did so again on 10 September, with HPD complaint report number “”””””””””””””””””””T Mobile needs to work with The Honolulu police and any other agency that can investigate this matter (perhaps FBI, national security agencies, and/or Interpol) to punish these criminals and prevent them from harming and harassing others. While I have no way to determine where the calls are actually originating from, T Mobile have the technology to do so. Calling after being not to call, calling from spoofed numbers which gives me no way to identify them or call them to demand that they stop calling, and attempting to gain access to my computer and personal information under false pretenses, are all illegal acts. I have now added the new numbers to my call blocking list, but since they keep calling from different numbers (or are spoofing different caller IDs), I expect that these calls will continue.
Had a call this morning from an Indian lady claiming to be from Windows Help Centre, that they had Recieved several messages from my computer regarding a virus. When I asked how they got my name, home address and telephone number, she told me that they used my IP address which holds this information, which I provided when I purchased my computer, which triggered alarm bells as I have only lived here a few months. She supposedly put me onto her manager, who wanted me to turn on my computer and he would talk me through the issues. I informed him I believed it was a scam, he wished me a good day and hung up.So please be very careful, I just wish I knew how they got all my personnel details, so much for data protection.
