My mother, who has been scammed BIG recently, received a phone call from a guy in Costa Rice claiming he was an attorney and he can get my money back from where I was scammed out of it. His name is Oscar Lizano, Attorney. Told me to call and verify the information at 202-326-2222, which is supposed to be the Federal Trade Commission. But from what I have read on this site it is also ANOTHER SCAM. Got I hate these people.

Man with heavy Indian accent called claiming to be from the FTC. He was saying something about identity theft but I could not tell if he was accusing me of identity theft (more unusual but seemed to be the case) or saying I was a victim of identity theft. He had my correct name. I never confirmed that was my name. I asked him to repeat himself as I was having a hard time understanding him. It seemed all wrong so I told him I didn't believe the call. He got slightly angry (huge, red flag) and told me something to the effect that the police would be coming to my house in an hour (lol, as if they are that efficient). I said "Great" as I have nothing to hide. I called the police who confirmed it was a scam (the FTC would never cold call you, the FTC would contact you in writing several times, etc.). I will say the number that came up is the number for the FTC so I guess they masked their number. I figured a phone call to the police would be faster than going through the legit FTC. Be wary out there folks, if it feels wrong it probably is. Thank you for this site! The masked number read as 202-326-2222.
