I got a call from RMS about a collection for an isurance agency that never heard of them and didn't know what they were talking about and gave a bogus claim number that they never had.
I keep getting calls from 888-545-4170 asking for ________ (never a name mentioned) and if you are not Mr. or Mrs. ________ (again, no name mentioned), please hang up. If you listen to this message, you acknowledge that you are that person...When I answer these calls, I hang up because I am NOT ______ (blank name) but my answering machine picked up the full message and it advised that the call is from Patricia at RMS and is in regard to "bill collection". The robo call then gives a callback number for Patricia as 1-855-222-5483.Mine is a relatively new phone number and since they never mention by NAME who they are actually attempting to reach, my guess is it is an attempt to get a call back but for what I do not know but since I have no outstanding bills in collection, I won't be bothered!
Called tonite at 7:20 asking for someone not even here, and when I said we are on the donot call list they said that didn't have anything to do with them. I hung up!!
"Ask for a settlement. Accounts that they have for a long time they can get rid of at 50%." HA!!! They bought the out of statute debt for 1%. Nothing to settle with anybody.
I received a letter today at my address for someone that no longer lives in my household (retired to Heaven). Without opening the letter I went on-line to access the company and then in the window of the envelope could make out the telephone number and called to let them know that status of the addressee. I spoke with Donna Shields who identified herself as a bill collector and any information given can and would be used to collect this debt. She HAD to have the account number, I told her that this information was enclosed in a sealed envelope and was not addressed to me, therefore I was not to open someone else's mail. She advised me to open it and give her the information even though she had said she could access it with the name and address, which I had given her. She them demanded an acount number before she could assist me. When I advised her that she was requesting me to break Federal law by opening someone else's mail, she said to do it anyway. Does this make her a party to illegal activities? She did have trouble understanding me because of my accent. I told her " I AM AN AMERICAN AND SPEAK ENGLISH!!" so I know she would not be able to understand my second language (East Tennessee). If the company needs aditional information they will have to either come to my front door and speak to me through the door or meet in probate court and prove there is an outstanding debt, which will have to be done very soon before the estate is settled. Since she was perfectly useless at this point I concluded the call. All our financial obligation have ALWAYS been taken either by check, credit card of debit of our checking account. And I have approximately fifty (50) years records to prove this. So what is the chance of any debt being overlooked?Since this incident started with the mail service and then with me calling her, I don't think this could actually be considered a call on her part, but I will block her number from my telephone so that I do not have to deal with her and her horrible sinus problem (snotty as hell).
The executor of the estate can open the mail. If that is not you, then give it to them.
