Received a call at 9:51 PM today, 15 March. Out of curiosity, I answered.I was immediately greeted by a recorded messaged thanking me for calling Amazon Support. Suspecting this to be yet another scam call, I was intrigued by this tactic, so I stayed on the line.Someone eventually answered, (male, American accent), asking me for an order number or an email address. I told him I didn't have an order number. He asked if I had an email address. I said yes, but didn't give it out. I asked him what company he worked for, and he said Amazon. I asked him why they called me, and he was a little surprised about that. He asked if a follow-up call had been scheduled, and I answered in the negative. He said that sometimes follow-up calls can get scheduled and set up calls like that. I mentioned that we probably didn't have anything else to say, so we hung up.He was very polite through the whole process, too. Scammers usually aren't, so maybe this was a legit (albeit accidental) call.
That is the Amazon support line. When I need help, perhaps with my Kindle, or have a problem with a purchase I have made, I go online to Amazon and find the place on their site where I can ask them to call me. I fill in my phone number and seconds later the phone rings and they take good care of me. Probably someone called them for assistance (or maybe even a prank?) and either didn't put their phone number in carefully, or they put yours in, in which case you would get the call.I just googled this number because I had forgotten who had called me and wanted to code the nuisance calls so I wouldn't answer them in the future. The link took me here which is what helped me remember that I spoke with them earlier today. They only call if you ask them to, and you do that by giving them your phone number on the site. So, if you did not give them your number, and they called you, someone else did, whether intentionally or not.
Repeated (8) unsolicited calls to my cell phone. When I answered, it was a recorded message on the other end.
They're still calling. Just got 2 more calls in the time it took to post last comment. Bordering on harrassment??
This is a legit number for the Amazon Customer Service and Support. They are very good about calling back the people who have called them with a problem, just to follow-up. If you haven't called them for anything, just let them know, and ask them from whom and when they got your number. If you didn't call them they will refrain from any further calls. They have been very polite, courteous, and helpful in regards to our Kindle Fire problems. They even called US back to find out if we received our replacement parts ok, and if they worked. (Not sure on that one yet.) This kind of good C.S. is almost extinct these days..Call Type: Legit Customer Service Call-back
This is a legitimate Amazon Kindle service phone number. The only way to get a call from this number is to set it up on line. Perhaps those who feel they are being scammed or harassed by Amazon ought to ask friends (?) why they are punking them. To get Amazon to call you about a legitimate problem you have to go through a series of questions about the problem and once successfully through that you can pick that you want to discuss the problem with Amazon via email, phone, or chat. If you pick phone, then your phone of record with Amazon is displayed on the screen. It can be changed. So if someone wants to go though all that just to get Amazon to call the wrong person, they need to get a life.
