Received call on cell phone. "This is your credit card company and we've been trying to reach you about lowering your interest rate. Push 1 to speak with a consultant" (Recorded message)Spoke with a Mideastern sounding male (boiler room sounds in background) who began telling me could lower my credit card rate to 6% at which time I asked him who he worked for. His response was Visa, Mastercard, Disvover...so I interrupted him again and said "So, you're an independant 3rd party company."He responded "No! Do you not see the Visa or MasterCard logo on your credit card? We represent Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, all of them!"I asked him if he needed my account # to lower my interest rate and he said "Sure, why not?"I told him he sounded like a scam and besides, I was on the Do not call list. He said "I don't care about your do not call list!I ssid, "Oh, really?" to which he responded:"Shut your mouth!"I told him where to go and hung up on him!
He did it to me again. He always seems to know when I'm out of phone reach where I can hang up on him. I tried calling the number to tell him to buzz off, and I get this recording, it's no working number. Evidently, he's figured out how to connect and disconnect his phone real fast, so he can harass, leave no message, then disconnect his service with the flip of a switch.
I receive 5 or 6 of these calls a day. They claim they can lower your credit card interest rate. I told them I do not have a credit card. They kept arguing with me claiming I did have a credit card. I asked them what name was on the credit card. They had no idea. I asked who are you calling. Again they had no idea. They then wanted the number of my credit card to check the name. I replied I cannot give you a number to a card that does not exist. However, the fact that you do not know my name but are asking for my credit card number tells me you are a scam. I will be calling my lawyer. They then begin to beg me not to do that. I am doing that and hung up. I did look up the number and it is associated with 3 senior citizens and a 49 year old man. 411.com does say there is heavy spam activity suspected with this number.
Home phone doesn't matter either. I get 3-4 calls a day - some leave messages (usually about lowering interest rates) and some are hangups. Very annoying and I've reported many through the FCC complaint site.
received a call a few minutes ago - no one answered - blocked the number based on the information on this thread. THANK YOU
I got two of these phone calls on my cell phone this morning. Same thing, no name attached to the number and no message left. I have the "Mr Number" app on my cell phone, it was free, and a blessing. As far as the DNC goes, it's a joke, unfortunately.
