Call everyday at least five times. I've picked up twice and nobody's there then I heard Good-bye.
I blocked my number and called back. It is a number once belonging to the City College of New York associated with a fax machine which they had to take out of service once they were made or became aware that a scam was being perpetuated by spoofing their number. Even tho they took this/their number out of service the scammers were able to find a workaround & continue to abuse the spoofed number to continuing calling for the scam. It was an interesting message , most appreciated, glad I called back and listened instead of hanging up when I heard the initial message stating that it was a number that was out of service. The message was obviously recorded by a live human a professional sounding message & not the typical, robo message when it's a scam number.
I am so sick and tired of these SCAMMERS from New York calling! I blocked about 8 of their numbers and they still call with more! They call on my cell phone and I wish my cell phone carrier could go after them for HARRASSING...SCAMMING!
It is very interesting that this # calls soon after interaction with either Norton or Microsoft.CCNY
They said they were from microsoft and my comouter was compromised with corrupt files and they needed to fix it for me. I told him thanks but someone is doing that as we speak and then hung up. I lied
Got the call. Knew immediately it was a scam. Microsoft will NEVER call you to fix a "problem" you didn't report to them first via their website. Here's what you do to drive these guys nuts and keep them from scamming others: tie up their time by feigning that you're having problems with your computer that you must absolutely have fixed immediately and that you're so glad they called. Tell them you have multiple PCs in your house all that run Windows and that you'd like to them check every one of them to make sure they're okay. Then give them fake user IDs and fake passwords, fake credit card numbers, etc. If the caller tells you they don't work, repeat them only in slightly different versions, something like this the first time, "My user ID is SkippyWOW1" the second time say it's, "SlippyWOW1". Do the exact same thing with passwords and credit card numbers. It'll make them apes#it. Additionally, it chews through a great deal of their time so they can't make calls so scam others. Then tell them you'll just e-mail them a list of your user IDs and passwords as apparently you have a bad connection or they probably just can't understand your accent. A great user ID to send is "FUAwhole". Just do everything you can to keep them on the phone and mess with them. It's fun. I promise!
I have rec'd several calls from this number. The most recent at 3:30 pm today. I called the number from work this evening and immediately a voice message came up that said, "You have reached a non-working number from the City College of New York." I thought I had mis-dialed so called it again and got the same message.
