Saw a call from this number on my work phone, that had come in around 5:30 p.m. on Thurs., 7/9/15, my last work day for the week. When I called it back, said it was not a working number. Live in Dallas, but definitely did NOT call 911 from my work phone that day or any other day of the 15 years I've worked at this company.
This has nothing to do with erroneous 911 numbers. It's a scam. I answered & a gruff voice said Hello. Then, after a short pause, the voice said "The fire department is looking for you". I said, you have a wrong number and hung up.
It is NOT a scam. They called and said our silent alarm went off and asked if everything was okay. I said that everything was fine and she replied that the police would show up to double check. Sure enough, the police was here after a couple of minutes. When you call back the number, there is a recording that says disconnected, but they do that because they don't want people in non emergency situations to call this number.
Got a call from this number twice in one hour on a I phone 6. Phone was on silents and I was at Dallas Love field waiting to board a plane. I live in VA. and no my phone did not dial, text, tweet etc any number or person.
Received a message from this number saying to call 911 and ask for fire. I was away from my home at this time and was concerned that there was an emergency at my house so I called 911 and after explaining learned there was nothing and they had not called. Tried to call this number and received an automated message stating the number was it in service.
I'm a receptionist at a law firm and I had several calls coming in at once. I had to put this guy on hold. He hung up and called back several times. He kept saying that no he couldn't hold. I was in the middle of trying to help someone while he was calling. When I was finally able to talk to him, he was pissed. He claimed that someone from our office kept calling that number and that it was the police dept. He was mad and said he wanted to talk to a supervisor. He said that if it didn't stop, he would send a cop out. I had to put him on hold again to get the office manager. Another call came in and I had to help that one, and he eventually hung up. Guess I'll wait and see if that cop ever shows up.
I called 911 from cell, got Dallas 911 with a recording of busy calls, I hung up, as I live north of Dallas, I then called City Police direct dispatch number. My phone was on 'sleep' at 3:40am so I didn't hear phone ring. Glad to know 911 calls back, but must remember to wake up cell phone in middle of night if I want returned call.
As others, I started to call 911, then thought I'd better call 311 instead, since it wasn't an emergency. Now I know to stay on the line in that case, and let them know I don't actually have an emergency. I wish they'd leave a message though, so one would know what the call was about.
