Shows up on my cell as UNKNOWN.Identifies himself as OFFICER!!!!!I believe he is trying to imply he is a Police Officer!!!!!!!He has a heavy accent, and is rather frightening.Calls at all hours.

this guy called my cell, about 3 times.THis last time, he said he was an OFFICER.He is rather scarry.

Received a call from 865-6696 with no area code stated was from Wells Fargo but when I called back no answer.

Got a call at 8:49PM CST from unknown.Some guy said he was from the courthouse and needed to talk to me about a discrepancy.I said sure but then my phone cut out on me.Tried calling it back and it doesn't show an area code.Says the number is disconnected.

When did this happen to you? I am so creeped out like how did they get my number? I got a call from unknown and then i re-dialed and it was the number you said w/ no area code. usually when you get restricted or unknown calls you can't call it back so i was shocked when a number popped up 865-6696...have they called you any more after this incident?

... a soundboard prank, possibly.

For us in Fort Myers, it is an inmate from the local jail.

I just got an iPhone a couple weeks ago, and it was shortly after that I started to get this call. Really strange. no area code, just the 865-6696.

I don't know why but today I got 5 calls from this number.It comes out Unknown and then when I called back, 8656696 came out.I missed all the calls except one time, but when I got the one call, the caller hanged up.I feel scary....T.T what should I do????

Just got this call on iPhone 4S also with Sprint. Called Sprint and the rep was helpful although she was not familiar with the issue. I told her that I googled that number and found this board. She ended up blocking (or attempting to) block this number from calling me again by putting something like 800-xxx-9999 in front of this number into my account as a "blocked caller"; she said that *might* prevent this number from calling me again. I politely asked her to forward this nuisance up the chain of command so Sprint will hopefully investigate it and find out why this is happening. I did mention that it spells out UNKNOWN [CALLER] and she also found that made a lot of sense as others here had mentioned. Maybe it's just how the iPhone handles people who call from numbers that are blocked. I just talked to my wife and the number was in fact HER calling from work. Her work number is on a trunk with a bunch of numbers, and that one she got that moment is blocked I guess, so that's why this happened.I also asked her to make a note to ask Sprint engineers to create a service option that lets you block UNKNOWN callers completely. My Ooma landline service does this and it is awesome...you can either send them straight to voicemail or have it give them a message that your number is disconnected. The rep was very helpful and courteous (and just as puzzled as I was) and said she would forward all of this info on to her supervisor.
