Can I just say this is the best site ever! Every time I get a squirrelly number on my Caller ID, I don't answer it. I just come to my computer type in the number at 800notes to find out who the hell is calling me. Since everyone that KNOWS me calls me on my cell, I turn off the ringer on the house phone & let it go to voicemail. The idiots never leave a msg. anyway. Besides I only use the house phone for my broadband computer access. Gotta be smarter than the average bear messing around with these political campaign people, surveyors and telemarketers!
Got this on the caller ID too. The part that bugs me the most is paying to have an unlisted phone number, contacting the Do Not Call list and these jerks still call, it's "random computer numbers". ya right!
Been getting calls from this number about conducting political survey. I called them at 208 232-1818, entered 0 for operator and asked to be taken off their call list. The man who answered was very courteous and said he would take care of it. Don't know if it'll work or not.
Mountain West Research telephoned today(08-16-08)approx.2PM, Wife answers but male researcher ask for "the man of the house" so she handed me the phone. Lucky me! He was taking a political survey regarding presidential and local senatorial candidates. I wasn't to enthusiastic but I'm by nature pretty accommodating, and I wasn't doing anything, so I decided to go along with it. Besides, how often does anybody ask me my opinion about anything? Gee Whiz, a chance to be heard. Who could pass it up?His format seemed to be to ask the same questions in different ways to determine my political disposition... How clever of them! He ask me a whole lot of questions mostly about whom I was voting for in the local senatorial race. After my answering his questions he proceeded with a dissertation on each of the opposing candidates and then ask if my knowing those things I might change my vote. I begin to feel uncomfortable..and bored.. but let him continue. After awhile it began to sound like he was trying to influence my vote by giving me what I perceived as questions slanted toward promoting candidates of one of the major political parties. Annoyed, I informed him I thought his questions were slanted and being used as a tool to influence voters opinions and I refused to continue with his survey. I could be wrong but that's how I interpreted it.I told my wife if,in the future, anyone taking a survey calls and asks for the "man of the house" to tell them he was in prison for killing a survey taker!
They called, I didn't answer but they left a message! They spoke very quickly but the line was not clear.
I've never signed up for any research thing...received a call from them twice today within 2 hours. The first time I let it ring and they hung up when my answering machine came on. The second time the woman began talking to my answering machine, asking to speak to me (she said my full name). She didn't speak clearly, but I heard something like this, "Hello, this is .... and I am calling from Mountain Verse (sounds like this, but wasn't clear enough to understand), a public opinion research firm. I'd like to speak to (my name). I didn't pick up and she eventually hung up.
