It all depends on the person you speak to. There are people who do their jobs, regardless of consequences due to low rates, and people who don't, those who don't put the call in as one not to call back because they want their rates to look better. These people do get monitored by supervisors, and will eventually get caught purposefully entering false information to make themselves look better. Please, don't assume that they are uneducated and lack the skill or intelligence to find a job elsewhere, with unemployment the way it is any job is better than no job, and some of the people who make these calls certainly didn't grow up thinking this was the line of work they would be in. Did you ever stop to think that these people are just trying to make a living? Just like you they have bills to pay and mouths to feed, and while you might have an amazing job not everyone is that lucky. I can't speak for other people, only for myself, I can only pull from my own experience. I have an Associate of Arts degree, a Bachelor of Science degree and am working on a Master of Science degree. I work for abt, it's not what I went to school for, it's not what I dreamed of doing when I was just a little kid, but it is a job and that's all that really matters at this point in my life. I've got a slight disability that makes most work impossible for me, so conducting telephone research is ideal for me right now. I only know the surveys that I have been trained on but I can tell you I will never ask for any information that can identify you and that if you don't want to answer a question I'll skip it, if you don't want me to ever call you again I won't and I'll enter it in the computer that way so no one else does either. But if you say "sorry, not interested" and hang up without another word before I've finished my spiel (or introduction as it were) then someone will call you back. You have to say the actual words "don't call" or "remove me" in order for it to go into the computer to not dial the number again. I don't get a list of numbers to call, the computer dials for me and I have no control over who I call, especially if someone else you spoke to coded the case wrong. All I ask is that you please don't swear at me, I have no way of knowing that the person who you spoke with on a previous call put the wrong information into the computer, I am just doing my job. Is this my dream job? No, but it is a job and I don't mind doing it because for every rude, angry person I speak to there is someone else who is polite and understanding and that makes it worth it. And you know what? I like talking to people, I'm good at it and I try my hardest to do a good job without upsetting anyone. That's the most I can promise you,and if I do call you I'll treat you with courtesy and respect and all I ask is that you respond in kind.Oh, and if I misspelled something or made some grammatical error then forgive me, I'm not perfect- no one is.
Called 9:00 on landline phone [on Halloween of all nights!!!]. Said calling on behalf of Michigan State University, wanted to do something but quickly said, Not interested, thanks! and hung up. I am on the DNC list. Will be reporting. Googled for background - got this site.
Good answer. I don't normally answer any phone call from a number that I don't know, but think playing with them and giving them all sorts of weird answers might do the trick. LOL. I did that once with the email scams. It was so much fun getting their replies to my idiotic answers to questions like asking me for my bank account, etc.
OMG!!! THEY CALLED ON "HALLOWEEN"??!! BETTER CALL THE LAW, THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS. GO AHEAD AND REPORT, WE ALL LOOK AT THIS SITE AND LAUGH AT YOU WHILE WE'RE DIALING AWAY. P.S. FOR EVERY 1 OF YOU, THERE'S 10 MORE THAT WILL LISTEN AND HELP US OUT.
I recently received so many calls from this number and the caller ID showed Fort Myerss FL. And usually these calls were received after 8pm eastern time. They all claimed that they are doing a telephone survey on behalf of the IRS and wanted to ask me questions. But the phone were roaming so badly that I can barely hear their questions. I have requested them everytime not to call after 7pm but I always received the calls at the same time everytime they called. I am planning to file claim but found this site with many complains.Hopefully someone out there know how to stop this and find out the owner of this number and doing something to stop the scam
