Left message saying they were (what sounded like) Green Task saying they were part of the Homeowner Preservation Foundation Network. They claimed Wells Fargo sent me a letter telling me to call them to enroll in some class. Number I was given to call back was 1-877-364-4144. I never got such a letter from Wells Fargo but I did find online a class action lawsuit "Wigod v. Wells Fargo Bank" which indicated that Wells Fargo is now required to "make holistic credit counseling services available to all members of the Settlement Class, regardless of group classification, at Wells Fargo’s expense, through the Homeownership Preservation Foundation network." But I can't find anything about "Green Task" or "Greentask" associated with this HPF and Wells Fargo never said these people were calling, and there is no reason for them to call us, so I won't exactly be calling back.
That number is from a company called GreenPath, not Green Task. This is a legitimate call from a legitimate business. There are several lenders, included Wells Fargo that DO send out letters letting people know that can take part in free counseling related to home mortgage modifications and housing options. There are several counseling agencies that work with HPF(home preservation foundation) network and GreenPath is one of them.
