My daughter received a call from a Ms. Evans about a bill from Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.She was taken to the emergency room in May. She listed her Oxford address and gave the hospital her phone number. The bill from the emergency room doc was sent to our home address in Madison, MS.We paid that bill. Then, Blue Cross sent us a statement about what they paid the hospital about a month later. We thought that was it...that our bill was paid in full. Then, my daughter gets a phone call from this collection agency. I could tell she was having a hard time on the phone. She is 24 and said I'm going to let you talk to my Mom. They didn't want to talk to me. Ms. Evans, in a hateful, accusatory tone told me that we (my daughter) owed $864.74. I said fax me the bill and I will pay it. She said she could not do that. I said I will not send or give you any money unless I have a piece of paper, a bill. She kept refusing, demanding the money. I thought it was a scam. I kept after her and she hung up on me. I called the number back and said who are you? What company is this? I got as much info as I could and I let her have it for being so abusive.I then contacted the hospital. It took me several days to do this. They were never in. I left messages and no one returned my phone calls. Finally, I reached someone. They had been sending their bill to my daughter's address in Oxford, although she moved out the week after her hospital visit. I asked why they couldn't track us down from our Blue Cross insurance and why they had never called my daughter about the bill since they had her number. Anyway, my daughter who now lives in Colorado had to call them and get them to mail the bill to our home address.I have since paid the bill, but today (Jan. 31, 2011) MAS called my daughter. She said they were very abusive even after she told them the bill had been paid. To summarize...these people need to be put out of business. I am going to file a complaint with the Mississippi Consumer Protection Agency and I am going to contact the hospital administrator. Why would you not try a little harder to get a bill paid before contacting a collection agency with a dubious reputation? I am really glad I found this site and read all the other negative comments, including the ones from people who thought the abusive calls represented a scam.
This company is a real pain in the [***] to deal with. Still having problems &cannot get anything done.I have contacted the Alabama Attorney General's Office & also the FTC.
I've got calls from this number several times asking for some sara person. Keep in mind I just got this number because I went to a different cell provider.Anyway, for 2 weeks Ive been just letting these calls go to my voicemail. Today I decided to answer and let them know I just got my new number a few weeks ago. This guy argued with me about who I was. I told him I wasnt this sara girl. I said who I was and he said no your voice mail says Nay! Duh you dummy! Nay is short for my name! He was down right hateful to me. I finally just hung up on him. I wish they would stop calling.
Same thing happened to me. I asked who was calling and he kept asking me questions and then hung up on me.
Yep rude is an understatement! They called and my roommate answered and they were downright ugly to her. Why can't these people be professional trained to be more friendly and follow the Golden Rule. I do that at work all the time and it makes me happy and my customers. Gee try it people and you might get somewhere!
this company is a legitimate medical bill collection agency. they work with a lot of clients all over the southeast. All their calls are collected and their supervisors are extremely strict about collections. When a collector asks for your name they aren't phishing for information they are trying to verify they are speaking with the person who owes the debt. If you arent them simply tell the collector wrong number do not call again. there are fair debt collection practices that have laws against collectors calling after you have told them not to. This company does recommend legal action of several different accounts so it is highly suggested you call and work the collectors. most are willing to work with you on larger bills. if not your next communication may come from a lawyer.
