Duh, these spammers DO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE to say what mag/org they are calling about. As such, this is rude and illegal.IF this was legitimate, then they WOULD leave a message saying what the topic is, AND would provide an easy opt-out of getting future calls. This spammer company needs to be SHUT DOWN NOW.What they do is rude, illegal, and pure SPAM.I will make it my mission to find the top CEO and MAKE HIS LIFE MISERABLE.
HOW can they claim they are "not a telemarketing company" and yet they are calling to do surveys, offer you magazines to buy, and/or have found a magazine that "pertains to your business." That is BULL! This is a telemarketing company, and I don't care if they DO state in their little pre-recorded message when you call them back that they "do not fall under the federal guidelines for the Do Not Call regulations."We do not own a business, therefore they surely could not have found something that "pertains to our business." We do not do surveys, and we do not buy magazines over the telephone. This is indeed telemarketing. I'm filing a complaint with the FCC on them. They are a scam, no matter what they claim and what they do. "Warning" you up front that they don't have to obey the FCC DNC rules and regulations should be a heads up right there - they are calling a house that does not want to receive the calls. To continue to call constitutes harassment.
Easy to get off their list by calling 303-786-9500 then extension 481#.Be polite (even though you are fuming mad) and ask for your cell phone to be taken off their list.I did that and they complied. But it took me an hour of web searching to find someone's post about this magic extension number to get yourself removed from this illegal spamming outfit.[removed:lang]
A new strategy I picked up from a couple of techies when dealing with unsolicited and unwanted phone calls . Pick up the phone keeping the receiver end covered ... say nothing .... and wait till they or the RoboCaller program hangs up . This tricks the computer program into thinking yours is a non - functioning phone number [ got rid of the latest wave of RNC calls doing this ] and generally annoys any Real Life callers into dropping your number ... once again assuming your number is not functioning . Give it a try ...FYI ; Several folks are under the assumption that Survey Calls are exempt from the FCC's Do Not Call List regulations . This is false . Only valid Political organizations dually registered etc and GENUINELY valid once again fully registered non-profits are exempt . All others including Aspen MARKETING [ there's the key word ] and MEDIA [ there's the other ] are NOT ! .... not that the Do Not Call list means much lately or that the FCC is making any efforts what so ever to enforce it . They're not . Your best bet is to bring in the toxic combination of the ACLU as well as your personal attorney along with your State's attorney general if the above or blocking their number does not get rid of themPS; There's a whole website here in CO devoted exclusively to exposing Aspen Marketing & Media ...... both the company ... its tactics .. who hires them and for what purpose ...along with many of its employees [ current and former prisoners on work programs ] for what they really are . A scam disguising itself as a legitimate business attempting to take advantage of an uninformed and ill equipped public .
BTW, do not waste your time reporting Aspen Media to the local Colorado BBB.They have had a bunch of complaints (plus look at the web!), not one complaint was resolved, and they had the gall to give Aspen Media a B- grade. What would it take to give an F?That's the grade I give to the useless BBB.
Okay - call the number back... 303-786-9500. When you hear the voice, hit 8 on your keypad. You will be put directly through to a live human. Tell them to remove your number immediately and to not call your number again. Do this AFTER you have filed a complaint with the DNC. Then, inform them that the complaint has been filed. They called our house to "offer us a magazine that would be interesting and informative, and pertain to our business." Business? We have a business? Why didn't someone tell us this?? I went off when I called back. The excuse I was given was that they "must have gotten us confused with another person." I told him flat out, "you did NOT. You are a scam and a telemarketer, and DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER AGAIN!" I was NOT nice, I was NOT pleasant. If nothing else, your number will be labeled as a hostile person, gasp! And you might even get red flagged as a number to NOT call! gasp!!
They call and call and call my *cell phone* and never leave a message. That should be illegal.
