Called my land line home phone. Caller stayed on line for about a half minute not saying a word.

Just called this number after getting no response when I answered. Unbelievably, it was the operator telling me that number is disconnect or no longer in service

Just got one on PEI.Assuming it's demon dialing a large volume of numbers and seeing which ones are valid. Then they'll either sell that information or use it to make another marketing barrage.

This is a 'web crawler'What it is doing is making calls to each number in a series to find real connected phone numbers.Once it has found your number is live, it moves on to the next and so on.When it is done, all these numbers are sold to the scam or telemarketers and ta da you startgetting calls for all the foolishness and scams.So there is nothing you can do. Give up because for them its a business of finding live numbers and selling the list.

Adding to the log if nothing else. I called the number back from a different phone and got the horrible recording. I agree that the recording sounds like a homemade one. I wonder if there is anything that can be done about this. I am on the "Do Not Call" list.

Called my home business line. Silence. The name line read 'Powell, WY' which is bizarre because the previous owners of my home were named Powell, although they didn't have this phone number.

Just called to Vancouver BC Canada No message.
