No name - no message. Guess what? No Answer! Get a clue - you must be smarter than your victim and it ain't happening here. Oh - it helps if you block your outgoing CID number. In other words, you must be smarter than the PHONE, too! Since they are apparently from New York, I have a Bridge for sale. Now if I could just get your credit card number...

Do you think enough people fall for these scams to make it profitable for whoever is doing the calling? It has been broadcast on the local TV stations to just hang up, don't say anything, even better, don't answer. I would hate to think that I made my living by doing scams like this on people. My phone showed LOCAL but I knew my area code was not 347. It went to the answering machine and not a word was said. I am sure I will get a call back.

I received an automated message that stated the phone call was to sell us a loan on a lower interest rate. If interested, the automated message asks the receiver to press "1". When I pressed "1," I was transferred to a person with an extremely thick accent. I advised the person that I am on the DNC list with the Attorney General's office and the FTC. The person never stated they would remove my name; rather, the person simply hung up on me. When I called the number back, it simply states to press any key if you want your name removed from their list. The problem is, I have received similar calls in the past, probably from the same telemarketing company, and I have requested that they not call me each time. This is probably a scam. I filed a report with my state Attorney General's office, the FTC, and the FCC because I am on the DNC list. Finally, visit the FTC's website, because apparently there are rampant telemarketing scams for lower interest rates right now.

got a call from this # at 10:30 this morning. #showed up as 'local.' starts out as a recorded message - this is your last chance to get a better rate on your credit card yada yada yada . . . press 1. man answered with heavy accent. then, as I always do with these calls - I blew a very loud whistle into the mouth piece and hung up. this strategy works really well!!

I read if you call back or hit a key you are telling them you have a legitimate number to sell to others or for them to call you again. No response is best.
