Many years ago I worked at Cascade. Telemarketing for an insurance company. No, It was not my first choice because I never wanted to telemarket but it was my only choice as I could only take a job that didn't involve alot of turning motion due to extreme vertigo. I am a completely honest and caring person and this post is in defense of the hatred so many have for "telemarketers". No actually I don't care to be called either but I do recognise that the person on the other end of the line in many cases are very great people just trying to make a living. I choose to answer my phone or not, if i do then i will always be understanding because I've been on that end of the phone. I am an intellegent, honest and caring person, I cared about every person I spoke too. My eyes were really opened by this job and I met some of the best people in the world there. People that just needed a bit of extra income to make ends meet. Good hearted caring people. One person worked at a shelter for women every single spare minute she had, another was just trying to take care of her little girl, she was young and doing everything she could, she had photos of her daughter all over cubicle and couldn't wait to get home to her every night, she was a wonderful person, soft spoken, kind, and one night her friends car went over the edge of a ravine and she died. Everyone who knew her loved her. She was not just some "telemarketer". We are people with lives and have not always had the best opportunities to get a different job, and yes, you shouldn't be harrasses, or offended or treated in a rude mannor at all by anyone who calls you, not ever... but please just recognise that there are many more good people that do this job then rude uncaring ones. Its not an easy job, I was happy to help people who didn't want to be on the call list, i took them off and helped them out with getting off other lists. We didn't have a delete button, just a place to click to put them on a do not call list. I found some awful people on the other end of the line, people that just wanted someone to yell at and picked me. I never presured anyone, i spent 15 seconds telling them what I was calling for and gave them the choice and thanked them for their time. I had some of the best conversations too! people that thanked me for calling and said they enjoyed talking to me, sometimes lonely people that just needed a voice, any voice to talk to. Sometimes we didn't talk of insurance at all I just listened to what they wanted to talk about and told them I would keep them in my prayers. So you see, you need to not judge anyone for what they do, what you THINK you know of them because you don't know that person at all. Im sorry for the rude people who have called you but we/they are not all that way! If you have never encountered a kind courteous person in 18 years doesn't it make you wonder if its you? I bet you bite the head off of anyone who calls. Your the one that needs to get a life, you sound like you hate your job. Glad your not my employer.

if you actually ask to be taken off the call list, they will do it. if you dont ask then you will get called again. simple process. not hard to do

If you are a business manager then you would know that there is no DO NOT CALL list for businesses! It doesn't apply. Obviously you don't know what you are talking about idiot!

If you are a business for real, then you would know the DNC doesn't apply to businesses. Only to residential lines. At least us telemarketers aren't sitting on our A**es collecting welfare that YOU pay for. We are working to feed ourselves and take care of our family. I have been here for a long time, and I love it. If people werent so rude and just said place me on your do not call list, you might get a better response, if you are a residential phone line. If you are a business phone line, THERE IS NO DNC!
