A shill / troll shows up to start throwing around threats of legal action on a number thread where no "misinformation and slander" has been posted. All of this will be deleted as being OFF TOPIC when the admins catch up to this nonsense.
Look in a mirror when you posted that? Because it looks like you're talking about yourself there troll-boy!
Post the webpage where these "lies and misinformation" appeared and we will enjoy looking into it.But you won't do that, will you ? Remember that lawsuits are public information and that will bring even more scrutiny that you don't want to your little adventure.
Because in their mind they can be nothing but a 'victim' and everyone else is the 'bad guy'? This idiot was given a chance to prove what they were claiming. They did not and decided to sling more insults. Can't be a victim if you're attacking other people, whether physically, verbally, or by posting on places like this.
Hello all,I stumbled upon this website while Googling my phone number to figure out how to stop my phone number from being spoofed. This phone number belongs to me. As the OP said, I was getting many, many calls and voicemail messages day and night from people who wanted to claim their winnings from a lottery. Almost every caller was trying to reach someone by the name of "Marie Campbell". After doing a bit of research, I found nothing relating to my phone number and someone by that name, so I assume that the name is fake and my number has been taken hostage by a scammer. I contacted my phone company and they said there was not much they could do The number of random calls I have been receiving has increased, and now I don't even bother to keep my cell phone on because it will ring constantly. Instead of a lottery, now people are calling because they inquiring about a call they received about an unpaid debt. Because of this nonsense, I disabled my voicemail service so that callers cannot leave messages. I am not sure what I should do at this point, but I am thinking about getting a new phone number. It seems like that is my only option. Any advice or commentary is appreciated.
Scammers who try to "get the money" on their outgoing calls will spoof numbers to prevent people from calling them back and tying up their outgoing lines. There might be several scammers using this number. This is why we tell people to never call back unknown numbers that have not left a answering machine message or voice mail with the callback number. You can get an inexpensive no-contract cell phone (with its own number) and tell the people who need to contact you to call that cell number. With all the complaints posted about this number, you will not be able to use it to make calls to anyone anymore, if any of the people you are calling are using third-party call-blocking services.
Yes I'd say time for a new number-when you disconnect the old one be sure to skip the reference of calls (no recording giving your new number).
When I first got this number over a decade ago, I got calls from debt collectors who were trying to reach the person who used the number before me. Those calls stopped after I explained that I am not the person they are looking for. After that, I didn't get any cold calls/unwanted calls for years. That is, until earlier this month. In order to prevent any unwanted calls from people trying to reach the former user of my new number, is there a way to request a new number that has never been associated with anyone? That would be ideal, but I'm not sure if it's possible because it seems like most numbers are recycled. As I'm typing this, I am receiving calls from Jamaica. I guess whoever is spoofing my number is based overseas.I am getting my number changed tomorrow and will post an update. Thank you for being so helpful.
