Same here,calls about my brother sayin its a referance for a job. Later did a google search and found this stuff. Watch out who u talk too!
They not only call my cell but they call l my home and SOMEHOW they appear to call from numbers that I KNOW like my daughter and my WORK How the heck do they do that?
If they are calling from a blocked number, they can over-ride the caller ID function by a feature that allows them to manually input the number that they are calling from. They can put in any number they want. So it appears that they are putting in your daughter's number. But when they manually over-ride the caller ID, the phone number that they input will usually show up was a star (*) in front of it. This lets you know that they put the number in manually. These people will use every trick in the book.
Call comes in with a recorded message "this is not a sales call". I usually hang up. If it is a debt collector they have the wrong person. My husband and I and our 16 yr old who lives with us, do not have outstanding debts. I am sick and tired of this number ringing my phone anytime day and night. They won't stop calling my number.
These calls are so uneccessary... The GOOD NEWS is you can BLOCK the number from calling your LAN line!! Just look up your "feature code" for Call Blocker wherever your local telephone company prints their Calling Feature Instructions (Usually in the front of the Yellow Pages, you find it next to 3-way calling and call waiting).
