hah, i too have services and it's so annoying when they call like this. they're all middle aged men with their knit polo's and khaki's trying to make a sale...you know, kind of like the typical car salesman...
I get a call from one of these numbers each time I place a purchase with godaddy with a new account, and very sporadically each time I make purchases within the same account. The service representative on the other side has never once offered to sell me something new, but rather has called to make sure I knew what to do to set up a domain name, or to verify that a change to my hosting account has taken place, that I knew where to find more information on the GoDaddy site on what the next steps would be. Perhaps my experiences are unique, but I've purchased over 1000 domain names, 200 hosting accounts, and various other products across more than 25 new accounts (for my clients). Sorry for all of you who came across a different experience... hopefully next time will be less annoying.
It says "Arizona" because their service center (and their business) is based in Arizona. When they call my cell phone it gives me their number, when they call my home phone it gives me "Arizona" (they do like you said, only once unless you sign up for something new, but I do that a lot).
I just bought a domain name with GoDaddy and a hosting account, and then their Website Tonight template based builder. Received a call from this number to see why they were calling. Guy named Robert answered and said I bought a hosting account and a Website tonight account which I only need Website builder because it includes hosting. Had me verify a pin I created, so I didn't have to give the CC info. cancelled the hosting account for me, and processed the refund for me. I got the refund in about a week. Then walked me through setting up the Website. WHO DOES THIS?!
When we sign up to opt out of business calls from telemarketers, we can have those who are contemptuous of privacy rights fined for calling after having been asked to make sure numbers are removed from their automated calling system. I am also suspicious about Business "Owners" who begin their remarks in a business forum with "Ya know" or refer to others as "morons". Very professional. Are you a Professional babysitter?
I don't see why people have a problem with this. I only answered because I looked it up here while it was ringing. They were professional and direct. Not only did they not sell me anything, they actually noted we had products my company's IT department had signed up for and not used. They (not me) decided to refund them (all 3 years worth, their idea). In no way was this a'telemarketing' or a sales call and in fact I say it's nice to see this happening with companies compared to the normal crap of poor customer service. You people need to lighten up.
Okay people... calm down a little here. You pay the extra $10/20 a month to keep your info private. Good for you, smart thinking. But GoDaddy.com is NOT "the public". If you bought a product from them, they have every right to look at it to give a follow-up call. Its good customer service for crying out loud. You act like its not! You want bad customer service? I ordered something from a website and when the product did not arrive at my home by the latest date given to me, I got worried since it was a birthday present. I could not reach the company by phone OR email and I contacted them repeatedly. It took a full 3 weeks to find out it would be another 2 weeks before I would get my product, and this was 5 weeks after the week and a half they said it would take. So yeah, it took a full 7 weeks, plus a few more days to get my product.THAT is bad customer service.Be happy that GoDaddy.com CARES enough to make sure that you know how to set up your website (cause, news flash. NOT EVERY ONE DOES) or that your site is expiring. If you dont renew your site, they probably have an automated email to make sure you remember.Next time... try replying to the stupid email. They might actually, hold your horses now!, stop emailing you about it if you ask them to. But really, they might call at bad times... but at least they are calling to make sure everything works. And for craps sake, they GO OUT OF THEIR WAY to refund you something you dont need or arent using!
Hmm...if this *IS* one time only from Godaddy then that's okay, but I don't want to be hassled by them through email, let alone with calls!Obviously if there's some actual issue it's fine if they call me though :) There free web site they give you is terrible, but thankfully the actual domain registration seems to work just fine (so far!)
Answering machine picked up 21 seconds of silence, with one little blip about 2 seconds in at around 5pm.I've been doing business with Go Daddy for years... this is the first call I've received from them to my knowledge.I don't specifically object to the call, but the dead air is unnerving. I do hope they get their act together with that!
