I get phone calls from these people daily.. talking in spanish about how they are from a phone company, when you ask which phone company, they dont answer right away, you have to continue pestering them... Finally they named a company which I do not have at the time. The person told me that they were going to disconnect my line and that they were going to give us a phone card for the time being. I yelled back at them and stated that my phone company should be the one to call me not them. These calls have still not stopped. Very annoying!!! I tried to call this number back to see who it is from and i get the whole the number you are calling is invalid please try again deal... No matter what you do... never say yes to these people in any form, thats where they get you!!
Have been getting calls from this number at least twice a day for the past three weeks. Tonight, since about 5 p.m. they have been coming every 20 minutes. Just hang up calls for the most part, although once a woman's voice said "bueno" and then hung up.HELP!!!
Receiving calls from 480-999-1234....no one on the line/hangup.. This seems to be a hijacked number.
Hi guys, let me put some information all in one place.480-999-1234 is NOT a real phone number. The number is falsified via some very simple methods, and may not even be coming from inside the United States. That's why your phone will tell you the call can't be routed. The FTC/FCC/FBI can do nothing about this until they have more information to work with. These people are likely criminals trying to squeeze enough information out of someone to steal their identity. Do NOT give them any real personal information. Many people have said that they claimed to be calling from their local telephone company. They are likely looking up your number to see the provider, and then using their name. This is also easily done.If you just want them to stop calling, try something like answering the phone saying "This is (made up name) from (local police department/fcc/investigative team/etc.). Where are you calling from?" Typically they will hang up immediately and not call back.If you want to help idenyify these people in order to have them prosecuted, you can do these things to help..If you know Spanish, or they're speaking English, play along. Try and record every detail of the conversationa and post it here.If you ever get to a point where you can get some personal information, try and do it. Like "What account/address should I send this to?" or "Is there a number I can call you back at? I need my husbands/wifes information." They can falsify the number when calling, but they can NOT intercept calls to other numbers. Having a bank number, address, or a phone number beloning to these people will provide people like the FCC with some real information to start an investigation. Also, from what I've seen it appears these people are getting their phone numbers from some of the more shady websites on the internet, who probably sell the numbers to them. If you can remember giving out your number to a website before getting calls, post it here. The callers might also be calling you an odd name, try and think back, you may have registered to a web site with that name. And one other thing. For some people, in the "NAME" part of your caller ID, it may be showing a long code. From what I've seen, these codes always start with a "V", and appear to be sequential, i.e. for each call the number after the "V" will go up. I'm still not sure what these are for, but try and post them, they may be of use at some point. I can see the collective frusteration. Maybe if we can manage to pull togeather and get some info togeather, we can put these people where they belong.
I get calls from this number at least twice a day. They speak Spanish or hang up. It stopped for a little while and has started up again. I am on the no call list wht can be done to stop this?
They call a few times a day sometime and nearly everyday, when we answer they just hang up.
calles and hangs up. sometimes I hear someone speaking for just a moment in a nother language.
This call came in today and I pickup and said hello and the caller said my name and I said "who" and the caller hungup.
We receive calls that "click" numerous times and then hang up...same thing as other folks. Once a Spanish speaking voice asked a question...not sure what, but it was not if I spoke Spanish. We have two phones and they call several times a day on both. Both of my numbers are on the do not call list. Extremely annoying.
