Someone named Tina called me - I own a local CPA firm - to see if I would be interested in buying a CPA practice "that is for sale in my city". I was out, so my assistant took a message. When I called back, I got a recording talking about CPA firms for sale. I left my name and phone number. The next morning, I had a fax from "Grant Furnas" from Crestwood, Kentucky. Phone: (502)243-2498 Fax: (502)241-2806. 5 pages in length. The cover sheet says "Could you meet with several accounting practice sellers in the next week or two? Call when you have a minute." The other pages are a solicitation to a "Merger and Acquisition Program" , a list of references of "satisfied customers" and a contract asking for money up front (about $2,000) to represent me as a buyer. This sounds like a total scam to me. Beware!!!!
Barb, same here. We got a call from Tina saying they own an accounting practice. She said they're called Promark. I took a message and a number. Didn't call back. Thanks for the warning.
Also got a call from Jan Richards. We are a CPA Firm. Threw the message in the trash. Boiler room operation.
I've gotten one of these also, from Tina Jenardy ... "Selling ProMark, Brokerage Firm, in our area", that's the Bay Area, CA. She said we have a mutual client but could not give a name. SAM.
I own a small CPA firm and I received a postcard in the mail with the number 502-693-6730 stating that they have 3 CPA practices for sale near me. Based upon the above and other websites I visited I didn't call them - the common theme I noted here and on other websites is they ask for $2,000 up front. If they are a broker they would normally get a sizeable commission upon the sale of a practice, so requesting money upfront doesn't make any sense to me. I purchased a CPA practice and the seller paid his broker a 10% commission.
Received call from Jan Richards, 502 693-6730, an Independent Contractor representing ProMark, today out of the blue. Had someone interested in our area to buy or merge with a CPA firm. Told her not now, but maybe in future, even a purchase. She gave me her phone number and I asked for an email contact and she said "NO!". I thought that was very strange.....I round-filed it.
"Tina" called wanting to speak to the owner. Seriously? Did she think the owner would just pick up without her giving a last name, company name, etc. Googled her and here I am. she won't be getting a return call. What a scam!
Received a call today from Jan Richards. 502-693-6730 said she had someone interested in my business.Would I pay 8% commission if they bought it.I ask for their web site, she told me she did not think they had one. OddShe also pronounced the name of my town incorrectly.I decided to search the company Pro Mark and came upon this site
