Customer support from the Apple online store. Called to verify my "ship to" address as it was not the same as billing address. (home vs. office)
I am 21 years old...a legal adult. I purchased a Macbook from Apple online store with MY own credit card in MY own name, and ordered it to be mailed to my house where I live with my parents. I never once gave apple my home phone number (I supplied them my cell phone number in both my customer account and for my order info) nor did I give them my parents names, yet tonight while I was at class Apple called and asked to speak to my PARENTS by their names!!! asking if my purchase was valid...and furthermore telling my mother what I purchased! Is this even legal to disclose purchase information to someone other than the purchaser if they are over 18??? As I am an independent adult she of course had no in-depth knowledge about my purchase and was very disturbed that Apple would be calling my parents to ask about my order and not me!
If the credit card was EVER in your parents' name, they could have called based on information that had not been updated by the bank. Banks and financial service companies are notorious for not updating their information. If the card was never in any way connected to your parents, then this is truly disturbing.
I received a call from this number and message was left on my voice mail wanting to verify my purchase with my am ex card. The guy left an 800 number to call back which I did. The guy who answer thank me for calling Apple support and asked for my web # order. I explained why I was calling and was told that Apple did not have people calling to verify purchases. They had sent me an email to confirm my purchase earlier in the day. Now I'm concerned about my am ex card.
Dude, they totally go and just check you billing address on Whitepages, that is what happened to me... and hey said that they found my mom's info in 'public records' it easy and anyone can do it, they were just trying to protect you and your family from identity theft....
Received a call from (512) 674-2000 on Sunday the 27th of September, 2009 at 6:38 pm.I do not have any Apple products nor do I live in Texas. It is highly unlikely that I would be receiving any "business" call this late on a Sunday.Very odd, indeed.
I also do not have any Apple products. They have now left 2 messages and called a third time. I answered the third call and got to a real person who asked if they could have my name. I said,"No you may not quit calling my phone". This number is ticking me off.
It was someone from Apple Customer Service. Wanted to check and see if I got a late Itunes gift card I called them about. It was a USPS problem due to weather. A lot of the people on this blog say they don't own an Apple products. But did you buy something on Itunes or complained about a product like PC quicktime/Safari? Or they might be checking to see if someone else(your kid) is using your credit card to buy songs. This is way more than MS would do for you.
