Sounds like you have a legitimate case. I suggest you contact an attorney who handles consumer fraud cases for your area, and inquire on possible cause for punitive damages plus your aggravation.
Have never purchased or leased an Apple product, and believe Apple should explain how it got my phone number. (It's a private mobile number)
Got a call today on the home phone from Matt "at Apple" for my husband who was at work. Matt was trying to verify an order. I stupidly gave Matt my husband's cell number thinking maybe it was a birthday surprise ordered for me. A few minutes later, Matt called me back, ON MY CELL PHONE, saying he couldn't get in touch with my husband. I took down the order number and a call back number and called my husband. Obviously, my husband hadn't ordered anything from Apple. Total scam!My husband looked up the order number online and there was an order for $1500 supposedly from him to me and the kids for a gift card. It went against a credit card we rarely use, but that is tied to his Apple account. He has cancelled the card, but now we have to cancel it and fight the charge. They knew our names, all of our phone numbers and both of our email addresses. This is scary stuff.
Received a call at the front desk of where I work. They called to verify our address for a package that was being shipped here, however the name of the person did not match anyone within our company. I asked what the package was, and the said and iPhone 6. I explained that we are in an office space, and maybe it was supposed to go to a different suite #. They said they had no suite # and thanked me for my time. The gentleman on the phone was very polite -- but I'm still curious how they got our office # to call for a person who doesn't even work here....
Correct. I had emailed Tim Cook (Tim.Cook@Apple.com) due to my 13'' RMBP suffering from "StainGate." They called me and left a message and everything. This is legit.
They call from a company that is clearly not Apple. When you call back there is an automated answering machine with the same voice used by the person initially calling. Then you cannot a leave a message and it simply hangs up on you. Super scam alert!!!! Do not pick up!
I received a call from this number last night at 1:30 in the morning. Didn't answer it the first time, and they called right back. The call was to confirm a recent purchase of a gift card, which I did not make. So my credit card was compromised! I appreciate the call from Apple, but really, 1:30 in the morning???
Definitely Apple calling to confirm an order. Ordered a MBP this morning, and they called to confirm the order, and knew details about the order, such as store pickup location.
FRAUD!!! Spoke with the caller who stated they were confirming a 1000.00 purchase of electronic gift cards to be shipped to my email. Operator said an American Express card from Canada was processed for the purchase. I called apple customer service they confirmed it is phishing fraud
