I am getting this call from 514-555-5555. 30 calls in 3 days

I have had the same problem as everyone else who is reporting here. Today is February 4/08. The calls started 4 days ago. I've had close to a dozen calls per day at all times from morning to night. I lookd up online about my rights in regards to harassing phone callers. The online sites suggested calling my phone provider. When I called them (Time Warner), they said they cannot trace the harassing number; nor can they block it. They suggested I change my phone number. This would be a huge inconvenience in regards to the many people and businesses I would have to contact. I called the local sheriff's office to report the abuse. They took the information and assigned me a case number but said there was no way for them to find the perpetrators, especially because they are from Quebec and because of the nature of the number. They suggested I call my phone company. So now I've gone full circle with no resolution. According to one source, "malicious or abusive phone calls are a criminal offence, under section 43 of the Telecommunications Act, 1984. Alternatively, The Protection from Harassment Act 1997 covers many forms of harassment involving persistent contact that causes distress". However from my experience, it appears that there are no agencies willing to give the recipients of this harassment any protection. With our country's availibility of high tech surveilance equipment and satellites circline the globe, I have a difficult time believing that those making these criminal calls cannot be tracked and found. Is there no one in authority willing to stop them?

I've been getting calls from this number for over two weeks. Clearly it's unwanted which is why I haven't picked the calls up, but they also NEVER leave a message. I get about 8-10 calls per day from them.

I keep getting calls from this number. No one answers. I requested they take me off thier calling list.

I have been receiving multiple calls a day from 514 555-5555 for two wks now. no one says anything or hangs up. I talked to my cell carrier and had them block sales calls. hope it works, but will take the advice of others here as well.

I have received 6 of these calls today, alone. I have not answered. I am undoing the damage of unauthorized electronic withdrawals from my checking account because of number 800-397-5761 (scam). So beware! DO NOT ANSWER YOUR TELEPHONE UNLESS YOU KNOW THE CALLER. Just answering gives them your voice to put into their "voice recognition" machine and start "Phishing". What a sad world we live in today.

recieved the same calls. They spoke with my daughter who is 11 and told her she had won a trip. Ask her to verify my name and dob. then told her to let me know that they was senting the information on everything to our home address. She told the our bank name and now this morning I am missing $460.00 out of my account. She did not have access to mycheck book and did not know the account number. How did they get it??? I am very pissed off and out this money.

I called my cell carrier (sprint) and had them put a block on 'premium' calls. so far I haven't had another phone call from these annoying people (it takes 24 hrs to go into effect, but way better than 31 days for the do not call list) So I suggest talking to you phone provider and asking if they have a similar service. I work overnights and can finally sleep without these annoying phone calls!!!

Received calls from 727 number now I find that this 514 number is the same thing. THIS IS INSANE! How do they get my number. I am getting annoyed with getting calls at all hours of the day and night. specially hard at work.
