A robocall from this Auburn, CA VOIP number arrived today. When the call rolled to voice mail, the caller left no message, just dead space. This behavior is typical of unlawful telemarketers who use automated dialers to place calls in a desperate search for victims. If a live person answers, the dialer transfers the call to a live unlawful telemarketer. The long history of this robocaller shows it has evolved from a student loan consolidation scheme to a solar energy system scheme. The company has been referred to alternatively as Sonitrol or Home Solar Solutions. Either name is fictitious. It's not hard to understand why. There is very little money in refinancing student loans, but a lot more money in solar energy. The proof of the pudding is the huge volume of radio and TV ads for solar energy.A legitimate solar energy company will not stoop to trolling the phone lines in search of customers, but scam solar energy contractors do this all the time. Protect yourself from these ripoff artists. Never answer a call from an unfamiliar number. Let your answering machine do this for you.
They tried me, too. I blocked them after seeing the number, then came here to confirm. Thanks again, 800notes!
I have gotten the same number early this morning on a Friday Labor Day Holiday weekend. They woke everyone up at 9:29 AM PDT. I will sue the crap out of them.
Received call & no message on answering machine. Maybe it's one of those "robo" caller!
some failing company, trolling for business, owner trying to make enough money to buy his family cat food for the week.
Just got a phone call from this number. I get so many phone calls from Tela -Terrorist, that I've decided to have some fun with them. what do I have to lose? They will be calling me when I'm 90, whether I answer or not.I put on my best Dana Carvey impression and answered the phone. A man started babbling about Solar something or other. He asked me if I owned or rented. Any question he asked me I repeated back to him in my silly voice never really answering him ever. He stopped and said he'd check with his supervisor, then said I was approved. Was approved and never answered any of his questions. It was really hard not to laugh. he forwarded me to someone that sounded like they were driving in a car. I asked him what his businesses name was he said, "Tesla Solar" I repeated it back to him like the Tesla Car? I then tried probing him for more information like his email. He didn't like that and hung up on me. the nerve.;)
