I worked for one of the largest phone survey companies in the country, and I thought I'd share some tips on how to avoid getting those pesky calls in the middle of dinner. Survey firms don't have to abide by the do not call list, since they're not selling anything, so getting them to leave you alone can be a bit of a pain. Simply telling them "No thanks" generally won't cut it.When we call, we have a few tools at our disposal: we can start the survey, set up a callback time, mark the call as a "soft refusal" or a "hard refusal". Most of the time, we don't count the call as a refusal unless we are talking to the person that qualifies for the survey, usually a specific person given to us by the company we're calling for or a person who meets a certain criteria (such as the female with the most recent birthday).If you aren't the person who qualifies, you just hang up, or give some excuse to why you can't do it, you're scheduled for a callback. The general rule for most surveys is 7 or 8 calls before we stop bugging you. So if you just hang up every time we ask you to do a survey, expect to hear from us several more times.If you are the qualified person and say "no", we mark that as a "soft" refusal. Soft refusals are called back again a few days later. After 2 soft refusals, you generally won't get called again on that survey. If you get very angry or start cursing, you get marked as a "hard" refusal and aren't called again for that survey.However, any of those three methods will just get you off of our list for that particular survey. Even asking us to put you on our "do not call list" will just remove you from that survey. The only surefire way to get off our lists forever is say something along the lines of "If you ever call me again, I'm going to contact my lawyer". You'll get an apology and be blacklisted from all of our systems. Calls nightly even though I have requested they stop.

540-898-8818 Has left at least 1-2 hang ups almostevery day for the past 2 months.When i do pick up i tell them to take meoff thier call list and not to call again, which theyhave ignored and continued to call.

They kept calling my cell phone, and were quite insistent about getting me to answer a survey... I was getting fed up, so I asked for the mailing address of their accounts payable department and a contact name; when I was asked why, I explained that I'd be happy to answer their questions at my normal consulting rate of $150 an hour, with a one hour minimum billing. The lady on the other end of the call seemed confused, saying that I didn't understand the purpose of her call; I repeated that they called me on my cellphone, that I make my living via providing professional opinions, and I was willing to answer any questions they may have as long as I got paid. After replying that they don't pay people to take their surveys, she hung up - I haven't received any more calls from them since.

I've been getting calls from the 540898.8818 on my cell phone every 2-3 days. I won't answer.

Didn't even call, just left a voicemail on my phone. Listened to the voicemail and it's 4 seconds of white noise. Really odd.

I received at a call (while I was out) today, June 11, at 5:34PM CDT.I am on the National No-Call list.

If you tell them you are not interested and they continue to call, file a complaint on the "do not call" website.

Call me twice a day last 3 days. I never answer numbers I don't know. They never leave a message. I guess I'll try answering now that I know its Princeton Data and telling them to go [***] off.

I just got off the phone with them, Pew Research, and the gentleman was extremely polite. I used to do phone work, so I try to be kind and cooperate whenever possible. These people are just trying to earn a living after all. And I was told I will get a check for $5.00 to cover my minutes, not bad for 15 minutes, considering what minimum wage is today.
