I've been getting these calls too. On my cell phone I just added the number to the call reject list. We'll see if that stops them.
I happen to live in VA where Princeton Data Source is located. To my knowledge they are not connected with the university. They hire local people and do surveys for big companies and organizations like AARP, NBC News, Pew Research Center, etc. Their calls may be annoying, but they are a reputable company and provide jobs for people who might not otherwise be able to work. Just thought you should know.
Received call hung up, because no one answered. When I called back I got their voicemail then I looked the number up and came to this site. How did I get on this list??
WhyMeEspecially, I'm sorry to hijack your reply, but I wanted to add a few things to this discussion1. A few of you are very angry people. Seek help before you self destruct at a young age. You know who you are.2. The pundits for telemarketing agencies: Yes, we all know it is a job, and pays your bills. Nobody can argue over taking what position you can to pay the bills. HOWEVER, when you engage in a profession that the vast majority find annoying and intrusive, be prepared to understand the pushback you get for causing same.3. Former or current employees of this particular agency or any of those like it: your explanations of policy are concise and informative, again HOWEVER, do not justify the intrusion you commit on those subject to your phone calls. If your comments are simply to inform those intruded upon of why such calls continue, then wonderful. If they are trying to justify continued intrusion despite having been told to shove off, then shame on you for toeing the company line. Seek more righteous employment at your earliest opportunity.4. Everyone else: I have been called by this company numerous times. I haven't kept track, but the calls occur at all hours of the day (despite the proclamation by a few of set hours of operation...BS or simple guessing on their parts, I wager). I took it for a couple of weeks, then decided to turn the tables and engage THEM in conversation. I won't tell you the questions I asked or the suggestions I made, since they aren't for the faint of heart or younger viewers; needless to say, it took three phone calls with my patented conversation topics and I never heard from them again. That being said, this is just one company and there are a great many more out there, which leads to topic number....5. Many are bamboozled by the notion of the federal DNC Registry, as well as its ability to do anything at all. I learned a great many facts about this, which with a little digging and a lot of time are available to anyone, as they are matters of public record, provided you know where to look and who to ask. The basic fact is this...The Federal Do Not Call Registry was enacted with a very noble purpose...however was NEVER budgeted as a separate governmental entity. What does that mean? It means that yes, the DNCR does exist...what it does not mean is that there are agents ready and waiting to assist you. The government did not believe that the issue was as large as it is, and thus enacted what they felt was an adequate solution to public outcry...and failed miserably at it. President GWB felt that the Federal Trade Commission was perfectly capable of handling enforcement of this act, and in 2003 that may very well have been the case, but budget cuts and reprovisioning of governmental agencies left this any many other public topics at the bottom of an ever-growing priority list. This is not in any way meant as a means to justify poor enforcement of law, it is simply a fact. So, readers, what is my point? It is this: We live in the world in which we live. Laws, however well intentioned, can always be bent and skirted. We are intruded upon by people we could live our entire lives without hearing from, and yet there they are. My solution? ENGAGE...when you get one of these calls, embarrass the caller with anything you can think of and smile about it, AFTER you have let them know that their call is not appreciated...the reason I say this, is that any respectable and honorable caller will apologize for the intrusion and take their leave....my suggestions are for the callers that won't...and persist in annoying...when they persist, everything is fair game. They may even get so aggravated with you that they forward your number to a colleague for a future call, just out of spite..but expect this, and be ready with a brandy spanking new list of insults and suggestions. My technique has rendered me survey free for nearly two years now, so take my advice or don't.
They keep calling my cell phone and have left one voice mail. They call me every evening and will not stop. I am even on the do not call list for almost every survey and junk call. Getting really irratated if I don't answer your call by the 20th day. STOP CALLING ME
They call at all hours of the night after 10 pm and sometimes 7 am. This is ridiculous I don't answer and they don't leave a message. Have blocked the number but it still comes through. They need to leave a message.
