BEWARE THEY ARE SMOOTH! My friend just got scammed by them on Sunday Sept. 5, 2010. They are using the names Rob McDermott and Rob Bourdon and the 954 area code phone number listed all over the place. It starts with an email that actually sounded pretty legit despite the punctuation errors. They talk about forwarding lines and when the "drummer" calls, he blocks his number so it comes up Restricted. Luckily they didnt end up meeting so nothing got stolen from her and no one got hurt. She thinks she might have gotten stood up because she had dropped her phone charger in the parking lot of the Hilton and the security guard was helping her for quite some time. She didnt stick around long after realizing she had no reservation. However, she did blow off work, several clients had called that day, spend $ on hair and lingerie, and drove 3 hours back and forth the state to Deerfield Beach. Their meetup was supposed to be the Hilton hotel in Deerfield Beach, FL. I actually spoke to the fake drummer on the phone for some time prior to her leaving, and they do their homework! We talked about music, surfing, he acted very modest about not being as hot as he used to be, and they talked about the "charity work" he had done that weekend. He talked about the new CD coming out, that it is going to be "darker" than the others and I may not like it, told me he would give my friend a CD to give to me and they talked about going on tour soon, etc. They are PREPARED. Lucky for my friend, the rendezvous failed. She did stall them for a good 3 days because she was wary... so they might have been spooked that she was undercover by the time she agreed. Thank God for her safety and not getting her CC's/cash stolen like other girls. Of course, she's not going to report it.
