To everyone who is posting:Ok, in looking into this, we found that these are real postings from your county government (track every call to every number). If they tell you to boil water, then you need to do it. It's not a scam-- it's your local government informing you of events and they are using an emergency notification system to do that automatically via landline, text, cell phone, email or TTY (hearing impaired). Just got a call with a warning about Hurricane Sandy. I'm no where near East Rochester,NY. So it's odd they would call me.

Stated it was a message for Franklin County that Hurricane Sandy would hit us tomorrow around 2PM and be prepared. Power was likely to go off, so stock up water, and even gas for vehicle. Sounds about the right time from the local forecasts.

We also got a call with info on Sandy. Official and informative, but we live 5 hours away. Odd.

My mom received a call from this number - caller ID said it was in East Rochester, NY. It was a call about leaf pickup in Xenia, Ohio. Makes NO sense.

I got a call from this number this evening, didn't pick it up but then I called it back. It was a recording from the Webster police department, an alert about an 80-year man who has Alzheimer's and walked away from a Webster care facility. Hope it's found and okay, it's terribly cold out there tongiht.

Got the same about this man - also said he spoke limited English and may sit down on the lawn and be unable to get up so please look around the house for him. My call was a couple of hours ago too.

Automated sounding 911 call re missing person with cane. Asked to keep an eye opened for him.
