Recommend you use spell check. It is "we're" not "were.' If legit, why a credit card for ID? A credit card is not legal identification and can be forged more easily than government issued ID. So what you are saying is that if I got a call, showed up for the presentation and to receive my "gift", if I refused to show a credit card, but showed you my driver's license, I would be refused? Hmmmmm...sound hinky to me.
I received a call from them saying I won after entering a raffle or sweepstakes at the Connecticut Auto Show. I recall entering for free gas but nothing stated who it was by and what they were about. Has anyone said yes and gone to the presentation?
I spoke with someone just today and found it very curious that when I asked her to email some information to me, as I was not somewhere that I had access to a pen and paper at that moment, she stated that she did not have access to a computer at that time and could give me the information on my cell phone voicemail. Just curious how it could be that your staff would not have computers, or if they have computers, that they don't have the ability to send information via email as requested. Is there some concern about someone being able to follow the electronic email trail in case of legal action of some kind? Just curious...
Ok, I will admit I was caught completely off guard this morning when I got a phone call saying I won one of the biggest prizes. The woman stated "you were at Pooch-a-Palooza and you got picked" She seemed SO genuine and excited for me. She stated that she was so excited to be able to give this prize away to my husband and I. I set up a meeting for tomorrow and then got thinking... this has to be too good to be true! I've been on several threads researching and have seen nothing but negativity. Drive several hours to get the tickets? Hmmm...Also, after I got thinking the only thing I entered for was a $500 Petco gift card! I was not at a home show or Home Depot where it would even make sense to have a time share sweepstakes! Weather this is a scam or not and you do get the tickets it is completely under false pretenses. I signed up for a Petco gift card at a DOG SHOW in Canton, MA. How the heck would a time share company get my info??? Looking back what a GREAT actress the woman was, props to her on that.
I also got a call from someone who sounded very nice. I was confused about the prize, as I didn't remember entering anything for "vacation" or "travel" --- now reading your post... THIS is what I entered. For Petco! When I called, the woman who left me the message was unavailable. I was passed on to someone else in the "prize department" -- listened to the speech, set up a time for next week to claim my prize at the closest location of Maine (1.5 hour drive), and after I hung up the phone I started thinking. Hrmm. A friend of mine "won" something similar from another company. So, I reached out to her, and did my research online. Nothing but negative comments. This tread, wow, one of the employees, Justin T --- SO unprofessional. Any company who has an employee going on threads and making those kinds of comments is NOT a reputable company. If you truly want to SOLVE the customer's problems, reply to them, let them know where they can reach you, and then handle their questions/concerns/fears offline. You do NOT bash them on a thread. At any rate, after thinking about it for the night, I called in today to let them know I would not be coming to claim my prize, that it was too far away, and I simply wasn't interested. The woman who answered the phone was shocked. "Too far? How far are you driving? We have people who travel for 4-5 hours? Are you 6 hours away or more?" I said I was only 1.5 hours away, but it was still too far for me. She sounded a bit rude when she replied, and said "you know you're getting 4 free airline tickets, a $40 gift card, and an overnight stay worth ~$150.... right?" --- I said "yes, I understand, and while I appreciate the offer, I don't really plan on traveling, so coming up with the money for the required nights stay is not something I'm interested in, and the drive to claim the prize is too far, so again, thank you for the offer, but it's not for me and I'm going to pass."While I don't think this is a SCAM as others have said, I do think it's a sales tactic that has some shady pieces to it. Buyer beware -- or in this case "winner" beware. For me, it wasn't worth the time, effort, or energy go find out the fine print. For someone else, it might be.
Just got called after enterign to win a target card or a home depot card at the Charleston RI Sea Food FestivalThey tried to get me to pick up 4x plane tickets to Hawaii and so onScam!
On behalf of Northeast Getaways...Cathy: you did enter at our raffle at Lady Antebellum, if you don't want it, stop entering..DT the locations you'd be picking it up at is not a timeshare preview, it is not ANY form of vacation ownershipHondahawk we don't need your "credit card info", Just a credit card that has your name matching your photo ID. We don't take it from you..HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY GONE TO THESE PROMOTIONS WITH NORTHEAST GETAWAYS OR ARE YOU ALL JUST COMPLAINING THAT THIS IS THE SAME OLD THING THAT YOU'VE DONE BEFORE? IF YOU'VE COMPLETED A PREVIEW AND WERE NOT GIFTED, OR FELT IMPROPERLY TREATED, PLEASE CONTACT ME @ JTheriault@northeastgetaways.com. I'll be happy to work with all of you to solve any VALID complaints. However seeing as you all just ASSUME this is a scam instead of actually claiming your gifts, I can't help quell your irrational fears and concerns.
Has anyone ever successfully gotten these people to stop calling? I got the first call this morning - it's at a different number 603-689-7680. Same exact pitch, come pick up your tickets at a hotel. He didn't tell me I'd sit through the presentation but I assume we'd have to. I asked him outright if it was a sales pitch for a time share. He said no. Then I asked if the airline tickets were no strings attached. I said I was only interested if I could come get the tickets - I don't want to stay in their hotel. He danced around the question but I said I only wanted the plane tickets that's fine. I can do my own research and get deals on hotels - I've traveled around the world and hate staying in crappy, typical hotels. I like local b&bs, etc. He said I could stay where I want. LIE.What got me to call him back is that I did sign up for a gift card contest at the Marshfield Fair - to Home Depot. I just bought a house so I was hoping I actually won that. Ugh.So I have a "appt" in a few weeks to pick up my tickets. I don't want to call and cancel because I don't want to talk to anyone again. I blocked their phone number through my service provider but I also don't want him to figure out my work or other numbers. Any advice from someone who has been successful in getting them to stop calling.
IF THIS WAS A WINNING YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY A 10% WINNERS TAX ON IT, BE THANKFUL THEY SAY A GIFT.!!!!!!!!
