I just received a call from this same number on my cell phone, if I don't recognize the number I do not answer the call.....from the looks of this number, it's not good.!!

They got me too. Very similar story. Mine was with Discover. The funny thing is I actually did win a gift card through Discover about a year ago that was legitimate, so I went along with it. Like some of the others, the guy hung up on me, so I immediately hit Google. I called Discover and canceled my card. A new one is on the way. Hassle factor being that I will have to change my number with the companies that I have autopay. Discover said I would not be responsible for fraud if I wanted to keep my account open and see what happens, but I was like...no, it only will come back on card holders because of the expense that Discover has. Plus, I don't want these jerks to get any money at all.

Just received a call from them on my cell. Didn't answer because I didn't recognize the #. Glad I found this blog about it! Still makes me furious they somehow may have the last four of my credit card and possibly other information!

Well, I called the number back after receiving numerous calls that I did not answer, and there was a recording indicating that I "...have reached a nonworking number." Maybe this is because I am calling from the states!?

I was called yesterday morning from this number, just as I was getting ready to head out the door for work, so I was caught off guard. I glanced quickly at my cell phone, thought it was a call from my area code (first two numbers are the same), and answered the call. A woman with a thick Indian accent, and who was talking really fast, explained that she was with Discover Card and that I was getting a $100 gift card for using my card. I use this card infrequently, but I had just used it for an online order the night before, and I had been checking my rewards balance, so with that on my brain I was probably more receptive than I ordinarily would be. She said they needed to verify my address so they could mail the gift card to me. They actually already had my address, my name, and my cell phone number. I was a liiittle bit leery, and I would have hung up immediately, except she never asked for any sort of credit card/financial information. After the call ended, I felt suspicious as soon as I saw the area code was NOT mine after all (I had thought that maybe Discover "patched in" or something to local area codes, dumb idea probably, but there it was). So I Googled the number and came here. I began to get upset that I answered, or at least that I didn't hang up, but I reassured myself that I didn't give out any sensitive information or information that they didn't already have. But then I remembered a portion of my call, which was quite strange, wherein she asked me to spell out words and say "correct" for answers instead of "yes" or "no." I.e., She: "Are you between the ages of 18 and 80?" I: "Yes, er, correct." Now I'm worried that they are going to use this recording of me saying either "yes" (accidentally, to questions that are yes/no) or "correct" to edit and use to authorize something. I'm so upset and worried! I've changed all sorts of passwords, and will be checking my credit card statements religiously for anything suspicious. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing bad comes of this. DO NOT ANSWER THIS CALLER!

same thing just happened to me, but they asked for to confirm an address that i had not lived at for over a year, and i know i had changed my address with all of the legit people who needed it. Said i was not comfortable giving them the information, and asked several times who they are with, they told me 'USA group'. Don't know how they got our infomation but i told him it was not correct, and hope i dont have to change everything......outsourced anyone????

DId the same to me today! Saying they had my discover card last 4. When I asked for a call back number and why they were calling on behave of Discover card the people hung up. Reported to Discover fraud Department!

I did the same thing that you did. I think the scam is more of whatever it is that they are sending you. I'm going to throw it away, or give it to the police. I didn't tell her anything that she didn't know. I kept asking her if it was a scam and she said no, haha. She said that she didn't have my credit card number and she wasn't going to ask for it.
