The caller, "Tom" claims to be calling on behalf of Windows Firewall Support. Then queries as to how many PC's are in the house, and wants to do a system check. I immediately suspected that this was a scam, as I am generally the one in my household to deal with technology, and if there was a problem I'd be well aware of it. So I questioned as to what city he was calling me from. His response was Los Angeles. Given that I have caller ID and used to work for Nextel I know that area code is not from that region. Needless to say, I called Windows Support after I abruptly hung up on "Tom", and confirmed for myself that their Firewall Support team would only make outbound calls in the event it was requested, and I've reported the specifics to Microsoft.

Sounds like a potential call center scam.
Said they were from Bank of America calling me about a fraud alert on my account. When I told them I do not have an account with B o A - they hung up on me. Ironic!
They said it's a business call from northern light. Not real and clearly spam. Northern light must have its phone numbers data leaked.
