Called saying- I think, this guy had an Indian accent so thick you could use it to stop a tank- "Your network needs a security update" and I needed to be at my pc. I hung up right away, as the computer company he mentioned was completely incomprehensible.
A man with heavy accent called and I immediately suspected a scam when he asked to check the internet maintenance on my computer. I allowed him to continue until he gave me an address to type in the address bar on Internet Explorer. He asked me to read it back, and of course I couldn't, because I could not understand what he said in the first place. I just replied, "No, I can't read it back because this is a scam," and I hung up.
I received this call and as soon as i picked up a phone started to ring as if i was dialing. A man with a super thick indian accent, not spanish, answered and was telling me he was offering service for maintenance on HP, Dell, apple, Lenovo, Acer, ......., I said everything worked fine. I kept asking him where he got my number and why he thought my computer needed maintenance to which he just hung up.
Hello everyone . . .Didn't give this one time to say anything. Telephone rang and there was the requisite two-second interval. While hanging up, heard voice asking whether I am . . . the name he specified was so mispronounced. Wrong number? No - they keep trying. Five calls yesterday from various locations. Today World Net Daily (www.worldnetdaily.com) included an article off NY Times regarding Russian hackers tapping into personal information in extremely high volume. Of course this includes telephone numbers. The club is apparently comprised of perhaps a dozen members, who are at odds with each other regarding use of all this information. LOL Russian government does not seem to be part of this. Wondered why emails were dropping in regarding "Russian Brides"!! Be careful, friends. Don't answer telephone if you have machine. If you pick up - as I had to while waiting for real calls - simply do not engage unless you feel in the mood for some mischief in questioning or attempting to extract other information. Stay well and thank you for your input.
I have had several calls from this number and others from the same group wanting to do maintence on my computer. They always address me by name which really shakes me up. How do we get these guys shut down?
caller hung up when I answered, This is third call from this number. Previous calls the caller stated that he was from Microsoft and he had to access my computer to correct a system error. I told him to F-off and that this number is on the DO Not Call Registry (which does not work) and then hung up on him.
Im very glad I checked this out on this registry. No one would call me on a hliday at 7:34 pm- no legit bussines. My id brings up ppl and #'s I have programed. "Name not found" is never a good one. Site said - country called from"Singapore". That can't b legit!
This guy called my unlisted, VOIP number and told me he was from PC support and my PC was sending out errors and he was going to fix my problem. I acted excited that he was so helpful having decided to SCAM this SCAMMER and waste his time. He told me to access website "log me in" then gave me an access number. While I read the number back, I disconnected acting like a telco disconnect and promptly called LMI1 back, gave them his user access number, told them he was a PC scammer and requested that they turn his subscription off - which they did. I've requested his IP address so that I can start a DOS attack on his PC. I've been hammering his Pakistani PC A_rse ever since. With any luck his PC will catch fire.
