Robocall from "Tiffany at Cardholder Services. Press 1 to speak with a rep." A rep named Keith answered but was unresponsive and hung up on me before I could utter the magic words "Terminate our business relationship immediately and put me on your do-not-call list." My number is a celphone that has been on the Texas and Federal do-not-call lists for over a decade.
I received a call too. I'm on the DNC list as well with both home and cell. This call came in on my cell. At the DNC site you can report the number. If you have Verizon Wireless, you can block the number as well.
This is one of several numbers working the same bogus scam. These calls are also just some group of jokers working to harass people because they can. I answer no calls from these numbers and mark any new ones for deferral directly to my voice mail. That works because they never leave a message. Here are the other numbers I know of that do the same thing:407-702-0538949-527-1674310-362-7319253-246-8510202-599-8470
I swear I want this place calling me burned to the ground they change the phone number they come in as and this is really getting annoying has anyone stayed on to grab their callback information so we can report this freak?Idea is you hit 1....say you are interested but you are busy right now and need a name and number you can reach them at so you can callback later.
I answered the call. It is generic about "reducing the interest rates on my accounts." I clicked through and the person answered, saying "are you interested in reducing your interest rates?" I asked, "what account are you referring to?" She then hung up. It is a scam.
This number as much as other numbers are used by third parties. There are various software that people you may know that place your number to call you and it appears as such number. These are apps on cellphones or regular internet sites. The numbers vary and depending on the site or app they use, then that's the call you will receive.
It's a debt collection agency. They have also sent me letters, typically in a window envelope, with no return address on the envelope. The letter usually states that they are required to collect a debt owed to Verizon in the amount of $157, but for a limited time they will accept $110 as full repayment of the debt. So call right away. This saga goes back a couple years ago when I cancelled my home phone because I never used it. (I only used my ATT cell phone.) For some reason, they didn't terminate service and kept billing the $30-35 per month for service. I ignored the subsequent bills and called again several months later to complain about still receiving bills. They could not find any request to terminate service and insisted that I immediately pay the amount due.Anyway, the saga continues with this debt collection agency trying to get money from me. Fat chance.
Got call from 720-539-6698 on cell phone. Didn't answer. Have been getting these calls like every couple weeks on cell and I don't give my number to vendors. Pain in the a__.
I agree with the person who said they may have stolen this guy's phone number... Also, if its Credit Card Services, they don't have a way to take you off their list. If you answer, they know its a working number and keep calling. I've starting scanning calls and the number usually calls once, but not again. And it works with landlines, too. If you don't answer, the computer doesn't recognize it as a working number. No more phone calls. They will not go in and manually remove your number from an invisible list. And I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't stopped answering every call that came in. Try it.
