I got a call today. Sounds great but as soon as you ask if you can call them back they say they are calling from the computer, although this number showed on the caller id.NEVER GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO TO SOMEONE WHO CALLED YOU! If you called them (anyone) then you know who you are dealing with, but if they called you they could be in another country! Scams are things that sound too good to be true, and you end up the loser!
Broderbund... That fits... They've been aggressively cross-marketing for the past 6-12 months. I'm bombarded daily with never ending emails urging me to buy one of their products at special discount for a limited time only. Invariably, the offer is extended or re-introduced shortly after it expires. It only serves to cheapen the image of their products. They must be getting pretty desperate. I bought Mavis Beacon *years ago*. I don't recall giving my phone number.
Got a call today, caller ID said MICROSTAR SOFTW. Just clicked to "answer" the call and immediately hung up. Later called the number back. They identified themselves as Crystal _____ (forget what they said), and said to press a number to hear about their current offer. Did that, and they said to leave my name and phone number and they would call me back (yeah right, I was going to do that). So I called back and hit the number choice to be removed from their Do not call list. Well, I'm already on THE Do not call list, but I pressed the number anyway. Again, I had to leave a message with my phone number for them to "honor" my request. Left them a message that I had just read something on the internet about their scam (was on the Facebook page for AVG Anti-Virus), and they should be ashamed of themselves, and they weren't getting my phone number. BTW, AVG says they are calling victims and getting them to install malware that compromises their machines, by convincing them they have a virus or malware. Grrrrrrrrrrr, hate these jerks.
I have just started receiving phone calls from this number, and they call about once a day. I've come here to see who it is, and I guess it's a company owned by Broderbund. I don't understand as to why they are calling me, because the software I bought from them was bought well over 2-3 years ago. I no longer have the computer nor the software, and I don't want the software back. I want them to leave me alone, so I told them I was not interested and wanted to be off their calling list. Guess who keeps calling? It's beginning to be very annoying.
They constantly call and then hangup when I call back its always busy getting tried of the crap!!!
They've been calling our house for several weeks. Our number is completely unlisted, and we don't use it for anything other than emergencies should cell service be out. The ONLY thing our home number was put on in the last year was an ink cartridge order through Dell. When I asked them about this when they called, they agreed they got our number from that order. Shame on Dell.
I got a call from this # a few times, most of the time they hang up, tonight they asked for my daughter by name. told them she doesn't live here and they said that's all they needed to know, i asked if i could take a message for her and they hung up on me. by the way i live in Ontario Canada. why would a california company be calling my daughter here in Canada. scary
