called today, but it went to voice mail before I could answer. A "message" was left which was dead air. I am on the do not call list. Called US Bank using the different number on my business card. They told me this is a US Bank number but it is for personal accounts. Called the 800-285-8585 number and talked to an operator. She said that this is a US Bank number, but they only call people if they are late or there is a problem with the account. They do not call to lower interest rates. They are aware that someone is using their number and are trying to fix it.I was asked for my cc number, which I did not give. However, when I call any of my credit card numbers they always ask for your number, and the zip or some other identifying item. It is how they know you are the account holder. The lesson here is not to give any info to someone who calls you, only give the information if you have called the company yourself, and then only if you know it's your credit card company.Credit card companies only ask for the last four digits of your social security number, if they ask for that at all.
Said he was in GA but sounded like india, NO drawl at all. He didn't understand. I said I didn't understand you either and I'm in NY. I do have relatives in TX OK, and I talk funny when down there.
US Bank says there is a scam using faked called ID, it is not really US Bank calling. They are "looking in to it".NEVER Give out personal information to anyone calling you.- Ralph
Got a call from this 800 number today (my third scammer call so far today. It's a rare day that I don't get scammers, telemarketers, etc. calling and trying to take advantage...SO SICK OF IT!). I recognized this number because I think they've called me before. I started not answering unknown calls, looking them up and then blocking them this year. I have 300-400 blocked numbers so far. I unplugged my home phone number because scammers are all I ever got on that number because I don't use it or give it out (it was just part of a bundle). I also get a LOT of friend requests on Facebook that I think are probably fake, too. I usually don't ever accept people as friends unless there is some kind of connection already. I used to be a trusting person, perhaps too trusting, but unfortunately these days, you just can't afford to be when it comes to phone calls and social media. Thanks to all the people on here who have shared their experiences so that others will not be scammed. Scammers are getting more and more savvy, less and less obvious, to the point where we pretty much have to reject them all to be safe.
Let the incoming ring on my cell for a bit then answered. Once they heard my voice they hung up.
What an irritating call. They have called numerous times and it is a recorded woman's voice. Blah, Blah, Blah !!!!
Wants to lower the interest rate on my credit card. Nice trick since I don't have any credit cards
Anonymously...that someone is posing as US Bank with a caller ID spoofer for the 1800-285-8585 to say they can lower your interest rates. This is not US Bank. It is a fraudster. US Bank usually only will call if perhaps you are past due or there are some potential fraud on your account. If you call the 800 285-8585# it will reach US Bank Cardmember Service. If someone calls you with that # on your caller ID and if you are sure you don't have a US Bank credit card...DO NOT give out any personal information. If you have a US Bank account, call back the# on your card or statement to verify a call.
