Maybe it's because you have a great opportunity and they want you to take advantage of it
A Denise Lloyd called my cell-phone and left a message that I had won a "great gift package" because I filled out an entry at the NJ State Fair, actually Manhasset. I have not been to Manhasset, NY. I do go to the NJ State Fair, but there's two of them and she didn't specify which one... Anyway, she left the 800 number to return the call, yet the phone number that showed up on my phone was 201-366-2909. I guess that's another number to block. Thanks for reporting on this "just on this side of legal" scam...
Saw I had a voicemail and it said to call this 800 number back but shows in my caller ID as a 330 area code. A person named Linda said she had am awesome package for me from an entry I filled out. I haven't been anywhere and I don't fill entry forms out. She also said in the voicemail to ask about getting my free kindle fire as well. I can tell this is a scam because I have scam calls blocked from calling and go straight to voicemail, and this call did not show as a missed call and went straight to voicemail.
I also got the call from Judy. I entered at a Backstreet Boys concert in August, my two friends got calls at least a week later, but my call just came about 20 minutes ago. It's a total scam and unfortunately one of my friends has been suckered into it. So we'll see.
You have to pay taxes and a boarding fee and meals + you have to leave from where they tell you to. For example, I "won" a 3 day two night cruise to the Bahamas from a 5 month old entry @ Six Flags. I had to drive to Rockaway, NJ and pay a $100 deposit, $600 in taxes, $300 in another fee and could only leave from Florida. I LIVE IN FREAKIN NEW JERSEY! Why can't I leave from New York? Also, you can only take the 3-day cruise during A MONTH IN which there are no federal holidays, nor can it be during June, July, August or September. That would leave me to get to Floriday in March or April because every other month has a federal holiday or is during the summer, which isn't allowed. So by the time i leave New jersey, Travel to Florida, pay $1000 and be confined to March and April, after enduring a horrible sales pitch, it isn't worth the headache. She defnitely made sure i was 21 and even wanted to know who was coming with me. She emphasized, NO KIDS ALLOWED!
I recieved a call from this number today. After reading MANY posts about this, I will be cancelling my appointment. I have better things to do than sit through aggressive sales tactics just to take a trip (and not be in control of when I go or where I stay.) Thanks everyone for your information...this isn't a scam, but it does sound like you have to jump through a million hoops. P.S. I read that Travel Wise is rated F by BBB in Cleveland. Travel Wise goes by different names...when they called me they said their name was Sundance vacations.
We also rec'd a call from this number 1.800.309.7000 regarding that we had won the cruise to the Bahamas. My boyfriend filled out a slip at a Cleveland Cavalier's game recently. Just seemed to good to be true. Found lots of interesting information regarding this, and we will not be attending our mtg. as we had scheduled. We live in Elyria, and don't want to go through all the headaches and waste gas to go that far for a crazy scam. Check out the information with the BBB~~
