This is Discover Card asking if i received my new card in the mail. I had received it but never activated it. Lady was nice and once we activated new / deactivated the old, we were done. Not a collections call.
I called this number 800-347-2683 to make changes to my Discover account. It's the number listed on the back of the cards. It is possible for people to change their callback number, and falsify it so it comes up wrong. It could be someone falsifying their callback number to discover to try to phish account info from you. Don't give out private info to anyone who calls you, even if the number matches. It can be falsified. Call them back at the verified company number to make any transaction. My friend got phished (different scam, supposedly Alaska Credit Union calling) last week. It sucked.
This sounds to me like a scam group is using the Discover number again. We have gotten three calls this week alone. The incoming call is from 800 347-2683, but they ask me to call back Kathy at 800 347-3072. Then they ask for personal identification such as home address, phone number or social secrutity number. First time they called without leaving a message. The other two times it was clear that "Kathy" was two different women imposters. How do I get off the scam list?
Have been getting this for 2 days now. Can this be stopped? I don't answer these.
Got a call from 800-347-2683 several times in the last 3 days...I answered on first ring this time and he wanted to ask me 4 ?'s about this up coming election. I told him no thanks and hung up! I should have listened to what he said , then hit him with "Why are you calling from a Discover #?"
